Experiencing HK and Belgian art and culture
Looking for a unique way to enjoy art and culture mixed with a bit of Brussels beer and food? From Thursday, 6 July to Saturday, 8 July, the Hong Kong Arts Centre will present Art Actually HK × Brussels Multi-Arts Encounter. Guests can watch as art is created in its many forms, and will be able to join in the event as well! Check out 20 artists who will present nine performances with three site-specific works in the Hong Kong Arts Centre’s theatres and public spaces.
To experience Belgian culture from various perspectives, the six shows and three site-specific events will be highlighted with a taste of Belgium’s rich history of brewing beer. When you’re done drinking your yummy Belgian beer, be sure to experience artistic creation from its inception. Audience members could even get a chance to interact with the artists as their ideas take shape and come to life. Using dance as the common language, a dancer-choreographer from one of the participating cities – Brussels and Hong Kong – will be matched with an artist from theatres, the aerial rope art, film and sound arts, textiles, ink painting or visual art installation.
Witness creative minds push the boundaries as they uncover new and common ground. These art works are rooted in the physicality of movement, but performers are affected by the energy from the spectators.
The cross-disciplinary, multi-art encounter is in collaboration with the Belgian cultural centre Les Halles de Schaerbeek from Brussels. It was first premiered last September in Brussels with rave reviews. Just nine months later, the artists decided to reunite in Asia to push their creative endeavours further still.
