We’re thinking pink for spring!

15 April, 2015

It’s finally spring in the ‘Kong! The flowers are blooming, the sun is out and the breeze is a blowin’. Now is the time to stash those dark drab winter duds and don something easy breezy and downright flirty. We called in a few of our fave brands and stylists for a very Sassy photo shoot at the newly opened First Wife Studios in Chai Wan, to bring you a smattering of what is fun and fashionable for spring. And as this is a Sassy photo shoot, we just couldn’t resist having all the pieces pretty in pink!

Coloured jeans are still all the rave and we love these ones on the left from Jack Wills. When paired with a pair of gold brogues, Natalie is all set to run around town. To contrast the pink we added a pop of colour with this chartreuse bobble necklace from what the frock?!. For a fun night out you can show a little skin with a crop top and high waist skirt combo like the one on the right. This top is by local brand Carte Collective, and the brand also boasts loads of fun little dresses for a night out on the town. Here Katya wears it with an A-line midi skirt so she doesn’t show too much skin. The polkadot sling backs from Inniu only add to the fun! Inniu’s new shop opened on Wellington Street at the start of this year and holds a staggering array of shoes, bags, and CZ jewels. Be sure to stop in and check out the cashmere scarves on the bottom floor too!

Dress: what the frock?!; Glasses: Chloe; Bag: Danielle Nicole available at The9thMuse

We all know that accessories can make or break an outfit, so we made sure to include several stunners on this shoot. This adorable little blue Danielle Nicole crossbody can double as a clutch, making it that much more versatile. The Chloe sunnies, available at The Hong Kong Optic, are a real find and nearly everyone on set wanted to try them on! Plus, you can actually see the world through rose-tinted glasses when you wear them…

Why save pink for after-hours when you can wear it to work as well? Here we have two great shift options from Polkadot Boutique and Marks & Spencer, both featuring black details which makes accessory pairing a cinch. Both frocks are super flattering as one features a line down the centre, which makes you appear taller and the other boasts illusion silhouette panels which instantly make your waist appear smaller. Yes please!

Dress Paula Ka from The Swank; Scarf: Innui; Bag: Mischa; Ring: Caty

Have a spring wedding to attend on the horizon? Then this look is perfect for watching the nuptials. This sweet Paula Ka dress from The Swank provides the perfect canvas to set off outstanding hair and make up. Hair stylist Ross Kwan made this dramatic up-do possible thanks to a bit of teasing using just a few bobby pins, then he wrapped the ‘do with this sumptuous silk available at Inniu. The pale pink eyes and lips by make-up artist, Jaime Smith of Smudge Make Up Artistry, make the look sweet and approachable yet flawless in photos! Before heading off to the ceremony be sure to grab your Mischa clutch, which is perfect for stashing tissues and a camera to catch tears and memories respectively.

Left – Dress: what the frock?!; Shoes: Models Own; Centre – Dress: Trina Turk available at Polkadot Boutique; Shoes: DYOS; Bracelets: what the frock?!; Right – Dress: Marks & Spencer; Scarf: Vintage; Bag: Perrin Paris; Bracelet: Caty

For work or play, the wrap dress wins every time. It can go from conservative to sexy in an instant depending on the accessories you pair and how much leg you want to show. All eyes were on these two models as they worked these looks in front of the camera. They looked so good I was sold, and I ended up taking home this hot pink what the frock?! wrap in another colour after seeing it in action!

For a bag that does double duty, check out this stunning leather ball bag from Perrin Paris (you can read all about this brand here). You can carry the bag as it is, or remove the interior leather pouch and either use it as a clutch while the shell of the bag becomes more of a basket. This luxury brand will be opening a shop very soon in IFC so keep your eyes peeled and grab your own bag or a pair of their infamous gloves (seen on the hands of JLo, Fergie and Drew Barrymore!). These bags also come in a mini size too, though I prefer the drama of the larger size (plus I have a lot of stuff to carry).
