wall of soundsBe my baby
How about a night of retro music instead of the usual suspects of pumping beats in the clubs? Change it up with a night at Wall Of Sound at the relocated XXX Gallery (one of our fave music venues in HK!). Being one of Hong Kong’s best underground art spaces, they’ve got a quality sound system “jacked” and re-tuned from a renowned club and some awesome 50s & 60s pop tunes from the Phil Spector and Motown eras for you to enjoy for a night. We love everything new, but sometimes the golden classics need to be brought back every once in a while!

When: 10 January, 9pm-2am
Where: XXX Gallery, B/F, 353-363 Des Voeux Road West, Sai Wan, Hong Kong
How much: $100 entry fee (free for XXX members)

Fancy starting the New Year with a little culture? Well, it’s your last weekend to check out the interactive Distilling Senses exhibition from Tokyo-based collective teamLAB at the Hong Kong Arts Centre – where you’ll be greeted by a maze of magical lights, mystical sounds and giant floating orbs that change colour whenever you touch them… pretty cool, right?! It’s definitely a more whimsical way to see in 2014 – with photo opps galore. Art was never this fun at school!

When: Until 12 January, 8am-11pm
Where: Hong Kong Arts Centre, 2 Harbour Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong
