It’s fair to say that I was more than a little bit intrigued to try TOWN with my husband on a rare weekday lunch date. My husband is more often than not on business somewhere else so this was a special treat for us.
Why the intrigue? Well for those that don’t know TOWN, it’s a fusion restaurant that usually serves up dishes like Red Prawn Carpaccio with Black Truffle Caviar. Instead of grabbing a panini and a salad, I was looking forward to indulging in a more unusual, up-market affair.
Tucked away from the frenzied and frenetic Causeway Bay, TOWN is on the 10th floor of the Cubus building, home to chic dining and cocktail bars. The modern decor adding an intimate vibe to this sleek restaurant.
For lunch, you can choose from the Antipasti buffet which includes a number of delicious, fresh salads or the main menu. We were first delivered the famous Red Prawn Carpaccio with Black Truffle Caviar – and yes, it was as delicious as you would imagine and then some. Fresh, light, exquisitely presented. You can see why it’s one of their signature dishes.
From the daily lunch menu, I chose the Antipasti to start and the Sea Bass for my main, which was sublime. My husband had the soup of the day and went with the waiter’s recommendation of the Pork Belly with clams in a miso broth, which was a sharp, flavoursome twist on a pork belly dish. The pork was slow cooked and melt-in-the-mouth good.
For pudding, we sampled the ice cream with strawberries, and it arrived looking like an elegant plate of food art.
The atmosphere at TOWN was lively, the food was delicious, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Treat this restaurant like your ‘port in the storm’ when you need to escape the crowds in Causeway Bay. They have great attention to detail and clearly use high quality produce. This is certainly a top choice for special occasions, something a bit different or like us, a rare lunch date. Oh, and they also have a fantastic wine list too! Need I say more…
