Time to clean the closet!

25 January, 2010

One of my New Years resolutions this year is to get organized and today my mission is to tackle my closet and drawers. For some reason I seem to always bring clothes into the house but never feel the need to get rid of the old to make room for the new. Due to this my closets and drawers are overflowing to the point where I can’t seem to find anything. Half of the stuff I don’t even take out of the closet so it seems pointless to be keeping things that are just taking up space.

Today is the day I say goodbye to the clothes that had to come with me from the US (2 years ago!) but still have not even seen the streets of Hong Kong. They will be going to someone who will love them as if they are brand new instead of being pushed aside in my desperate search to find something to wear each day.

I have been watching Tim Gun’s Guide to Style recently and his theory is that a girl really only needs 10 essentials in her wardrobe. Now, I am not ready to go that far and only keep 10 but he did get me to thinking that minimizing makes sense and there is no better way to getting organized then removing the things around me that I have no use for anymore. Do you have all 10?

1. Basic Black Dress
2. Trench Coat
3. Classic Dress Pants
4. White Shirt
5. Jeans
6. Cashmere Sweater
7. Skirt
8. Day Dress
9. Blazer
10. Sweat Suit Alternative

Speaking of closets, I thought I would finish off with some fun closet inspiration pics from the stars. I would love to someday have a closet like Olivia Wilde or Nicky Hilton’s. Which one do you like best?
