Shopwalk Spotlight: what the frock?! and zero nOir

24 June, 2011
SoHo Shop Walk is just around the corner, and one of the things we’re most looking forward to is giving some independent designers in Hong Kong a platform that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to have as they aren’t based in a boutique setting… For Shop Walk all the indie designers are going to be set up in bars around the area, so you’ll be able to sip on a cocktail and browse their fab wares at the same time.

what the frock?!

what the frock?! was inspired by friends Maria & Lauren’s desire to create a range of fun and fashionable dresses, suitable for Hong Kong’s sweltering summers. They believe in flattering silhouettes, gorgeous fabrics and fun patterns & colours. The collection features flowing, feminine and timelessly chic pieces that girls can wear for all types of occasions; from work, to weekends, to a night out on the town.

What is your favourite trend for summer?
Stripes and colour blocking.

What is your favourite piece for summer and why?
Our favourite piece for this summer is “the floaty sun dress”. It’s the perfect frock for the sweltering Hong Kong summer with it’s spaghetti straps, bias cut skirt and that it’s 100% silk. Not only is it a breathable fabric, it is sumptuous to wear!  The nautical stripes are super-slimming and it cinches in at the waist for an overall flattering fit. It is also bang on trend with the bright colour cues this summer.

What would you pair it with?
For a casual day look we would pair it with a straw trilby hat, a summer scarf, an oversized bag and your favourite sandals. For a night out on the town, we would pair it with nude pumps, a chunky ring and a clutch.

zero nOir

zero nOir pieces are designed with the philosophy of quality and attention to detail. Each style and colour way is limited to small quantities of production so as to keep the designs exclusive each season. zero nOir designs are sophisticated and stylish silk pieces, dresses and separates for any special occasion, and a vital element of every girl’s wardrobe!

zero nOir is sold throughout Australia and Hong Kong  and are designed by Tiffany Bisley.

What is your favorite trend for summer?
At the moment I am loving the Jumpsuit – It is laidback and relaxed, and holds a comfortable feel for the wearer. A well cut jumpsuit is flattering to most women’s body’s. I love accessorizing jumpsuits with high-waisted belts, low hipster rope ties, and long strand necklaces. Paired with any girls favorite wedge shoe, dressed up or down and you have a versatile, modern day feel to a retro look!

What is your favorite piece for summer and why?
The Signature Elegance Jumpsuit. It is a low back, high-waisted long jumpsuit, and comes in 3 different colour ways: retro turquoise with white flowers; a cream silk top with brown batik print pant; and the  zero nOir signature purple and blue paint strokes on a white background (above).

It is such a comfortable fit with a high waist draw string and floaty top laced up at the front. The back gives it a sexy elegance with a low cross over opening – Perfect for that Hot Hong Kong Day!

What would you pair it with?
This jumpsuit is so versatile and can be dresses down with flat sandals, large chunky bracelets and a pair of sunglasses for a relaxed weekend look. Or wear it for a night out with chunky wedge heals, layered long retro chain necklaces, and chunky rings!
