Sassy Scoop: Which Karen Millen trend will you be this fall?

15 September, 2010

Hands up all those who think Karen Millen is just about slinky party dresses? Yup, we did at one time too and we certainly deserve a slap on the wrist for our lack of Karen Millen know-how. We don’t even want to imagine all the fabulous clothes we missed out on over the years thinking in this tunnel vision sort of way.

Well, we are older and wiser now so we can admit that we were wrong and applaud Karen Millen for their lust-worthy Autumn/Winter 2010 collection.  The line, which is centered around 4 key trends, is all about who you want to be this fall. You can make a statement in a camel cape, take it easywith a graphic colour block shift, go where the wild things are with a leopard print dress or headinto the night with a stunning champagne asymmetric satin dress.

We just couldn’t resist the chance to tell you about our most-wanted pieces from the Fall collection. Which of the four trends best matches your style personality?

Maura is taking it Easy
I can’t wait to get my hands on this uber comfy grey poncho. I typically wear more structured looks but this Fall I am coveting some easy and laid back pieces. One of the ways I would style this is with black skinny jeans, black studded platform ankle boots and a burgundy cross body bag. At the last minute I would probably throw on an edgy ring too…I am thinking a silver one in the shape of a snake.

Hester is ready to make a Statement
I adore this super-luxe statement coat with its waist-cinching belt, and would style it with a pair of this season’s indigo flared jeans and some chunky-heeled boots for a bit of a seventies vibe. As the cape-like sleeves are such a feature, I’d slip on a pair of elbow-length leather gloves to dress it up and wear a very fine cashmere knit underneath. No jewellery is even required for this look, except for a tiny pair of sparkly ear studs to enhance the snow queen feel.

Natalie is getting a bit Wild
I love this butterfly Maxi Dress because it’s got the Bohemian flowy look that I religiously wear all Summer long – it is the perfect piece to easily transition into Fall/Winter. The dark black and grey colours are key for the upcoming season and when the cool air finally hits Hong Kong I would pair it with the leather bomber jacket for a tougher look. In terms of jewels, I would keep it simple with just a pair of silver hoop earrings since the wild print of the dress totally speaks for itself.
