General Assembly is known for hosting incredibly interesting talks and informative courses – perfect for all of us go-getting girls in Hong Kong! What better way to be inspired than by listening to someone who has successfully started their own business, or by learning a new skill? We’re all about the self-improvement! That’s why we wanted to let you know about the Digital Marketing Course that they’re having in September (before it gets booked up!).

In this day and age it’s so important to be tech-savvy, and now more than ever is the time to be a social media expert. With everyone online these days, it’s crucial to know how to use digital platforms effectively, not just for yourself but also for any business. Heading up this useful course for the 5th time is Jay Oatway, a tech-journalist and digital strategist who has become a global leader in social media reach and influence (he’s even ranked #22 on the Forbes Top 50 Social Media Power Influencers 2012!). Judging from his various achievements and accolades, he is definitely the guy to be listening to when it comes to digital marketing!

So what will you get out of it? You’ll get savvy with social media, learning how to engage new users effectively (hello Instagram!). You’ll also get up to speed on how to get the most out of digital campaigns using data-driven approaches and you’ll learn how to create amazing content that will have a high-impact on users. What’s more, you’ll also be focusing on how to create the very best experience for your users… and who knows, you may even meet you’re future co-founder here – it’s already happened three times!


This is the ideal course for any ambitious entrepreneurs who are keen to kick-start their own business, or for anyone who wants to brush up on this increasingly important skill. You’ll meet a great team of like-minded people who will inspire you and help you with feedback and support along the way, and at the end of the course you’ll be able to pitch your final project to a panel of digital marketing experts in Hong Kong.

Valerie Teh, who manages the digital marketing and PR for Condé Nast Restaurants and is the brains behind food blog, The Chowdown, loved the “quality of the tutor” and the “extremely interactive nature of the group” which helped her to successfully launch her blog. When asked what her favourite part of her GA experience was, she says “Am I allowed to say wine during class?
