The last time we headed to Monki, it was all shapeless clothes, black leggings and long queues. But judging by their new collections for this autumn/winter, it looks like the winds of change are blowing down Langham Place!
The sister brand of H&M are bringing some much needed colour to their quirky mix of street-style and Scandinavian fashion. There are four key themes – Bright Young Things, inspired by 60s Oxbridge back-to-school style; Fade To Grey, monochromatic grungy minimalism; Owl & Fox, casual knitwear with a British countryside vibe and Golddust Woman, Monki’s take on the 70s Studio 54 nostalgia that all the big designers have been channelling over the past few seasons.
I love the styling of these shots; there’s something almost fairytale-esque about them and their quirkiness really sets them apart from the more mainstream imagery at other stores – and you know we love to be a little bit different at Sassy!
I’ve picked out a few of my favourite items to whet your appetites for a Monki shopping spree!
Odette knitted top ($300) – Novelty knits are all the rage this season, but I love this charming classic take on the trend. Plus, swans have been all the rage since Natalie Portman went mental in Black Swan!
Megan striped top – Everyone loves a good Breton stripe and, at just $120, there’s no reason this shouldn’t become a staple in your wardrobe too!
For those of you that love colour but aren’t ready to step out in that bubblegum pink dress just yet, matching a black top with a coloured skirt is a great option. We love the muted teal and lavender of these figure-hugging Belina skirts ($300) too.
Anyone else getting a total Alexa Chung vibe off the Sarah dress ($250)?
Awwww… we just couldn’t resist this super cute dog necklace for only $50 to finish things off!
