We’ve got Jungle Fever with Maisha Concept!

1 April, 2014

Here at Sassy, we’re all about discovering up and coming independent designer brands, especially the ones made in Hong Kong! Enter Maisha Concept, an exotic and colourful brand that’s right up our alley. Get ready to feel the jungle fever!

Founded in 2012, Maisha Concept’s designer Rakhee Shah decided to jump in and launch her first collection after getting so many compliments on her own tailored garments, with high demands for more of them! Featuring colourful patterns and authentic fabrics sourced from Africa and India, these pieces are far from the off-the-rack prints you pick up from fast fashion brands. Together with unique but ready-to-wear designs, you’ve got the perfect mix of eye-catching and easy-matching!

The brand not only comes up with pretty designs, but is also dedicated to giving back to the community and making a difference. Recently, their pop-up shop in Kenya has helped ten school children pay their school fees! It’s no wonder that Rakhee was featured in Vanity Fair as one of the young and distinguished African entrepreneurs, and we couldn’t agree more!

Ready to dive into their goodies? Check out our favourite picks! The hottest on the list would definitely be the Chic Midnight jumpsuit ($1300), which comes with a colourful African Obi belt that will accentuate your curves in all the right places. It’s perfect for a date night in town with some statement jewellery, or a weekend at the beach with their beach towel, which can be used as a scarf too!

If you’re in need of some office dresses, we love the Kitenge White Beauty Dress ($1200), which is the perfect little white dress… check out the cool patterned twist at the shoulder!

The Audrey Dress ($1000) is another special number with an overall houndstooth pattern (perfect for the monochrome trend), and a popping yellow tribal collar that makes it stand out from the rest.

The two-piece casual combo consists of the fabulous Masaai Stripey Long Shirt ($1200) with the chic fold-up sleeves and the super comfy Maisha Wrap Skirt in blue ($800).

We absolutely adore the pattern and open side details on the Shanghai Twist tank in Bottle Green ($1000)! Throw on the African Tuxedo in blue ($1800), or black if you want something more subtle, and you’ve got yourself the perfect match with some boyfriend jeans or tailored skinnies. Need a formal but interesting outfit? Sorted!

For date nights, casual afternoons or office days, Maisha Concept can transform your look from flat to absolutely fabulous! We definitely recommend a piece or two to spice up your wardrobe and give it some exotic elements! You can check out more gorgeous pieces online, or get hands-on with a private appointment at their showroom on Hollywood Road. (Maybe a lunchtime sneak peek? We promise we won’t tell… shhh!)
