Live Zero: Hong Kong's First Zero Waste Grocery Store Opens in Sai Ying Pun

The future is here!

Plastic sucks. It’s suffocating our city and killing our marine life, yet we continue to throw away 5.2 million [plastic] bottles every single day in Hong Kong, not to mention all of the single-use plastic bags and needless wrapping around our fresh produce! It feels like we’re finally getting somewhere though, with the opening of Edgar in TST last October and the 852’s first, zero-waste, bulk-buy grocery store, Live Zero, opening just yesterday!

So, what can we expect? As Hong Kong’s first, completely zero waste and packaging-free grocery store, it’s stocking a huge array of organic products such as: flours, grains, legumes, nuts, oats, granola, herbs, spices, pasta, oils and vinegar (to name but a few!).

On top of pantry staples, the store will also be selling everything you need to reduce your plastic consumption, such as shampoo and conditioner bars, cleaning products, reusable cups, lunchboxes and cutlery, as well as stainless steel straws. With more products set to be added to its shelves in the near future, Live Zero really is giving us zero excuses to keep consuming the way we are. Don’t forget to bring your own tupperware, because the plastic revolution is here, and we are all for it!

Live Zero Bulk Foods, 24 High Street, Sai Ying Pun, Hong Kong, open daily 11am – 8pm, www.livezero.hk,
