Lane Crawford Canton Road gets a make-up makeover!

9 March, 2012

The last time I set foot in the beauty section of the Canton Road Lane Crawford, it was in the middle of a huge renovation – a dusty noisy maze of various boarded-up aisles.

Thankfully, the hoardings have gone, the dust has cleared and, like a beautiful butterfly emerging from its chrysalis, a whole new Lane Crawford has been born! And thanks to Lane Crawford’s Spring/Summer Beauty Style Campaign, which runs until March 18 2012, there is no better time to visit!

The beauty section of the Canton Road Lane Crawford has had a total makeover – the space is bright, airy and modern, the aisles are wide and easy to navigate and the make-up counters have all been revamped into places you actually want to explore and shop in. The NARS counter has jumped ship from FACES across the way and feels like its own shop, the Fresh section is now huge and has a fragrance bar and a kitchen table filled with goodies just inviting you to test them, whilst the Estee Lauder near the entrance even has sofas! As if I needed further inventive to go make-up shopping!

Meanwhile, there are iPads scattered around the store with the Lane Crawford Beauty Style App, which takes you through all of spring’s main trends for beauty, all the hottest new products you’ll need to recreate them and fantastic recommendations for skincare solutions. It’s super easy to use, includes tutorial videos… and yes, I’m a girl… the pictures are very pretty too! Alternatively, you could just head to the Cosmetic Concierge, where LC’s staff can show you the latest spring products, share beauty tips and provide a complimentary make-up service too.

There are also dozens of special offers and gifts with purchase available from practically all of the beauty brands until March 18th. My picks of the pack are a seven-piece Lancome gift set (worth $825) that you get free if you spend over $880; a sexy Helena Rubinstein pouch filled with three of her even sexier Lash Queen Mascaras (you need the one with the lace decoration) for $990 (worth $1320); and this fantastic Smokey Eye Collection from Bobbi Brown, including an eye-shadow palette, mascara and gel eyeliner, for just $780.

While you’re in Lane Crawford Canton Road, I also highly recommend you go check out the Library Café downstairs – shopping, cupcakes and Fortnum & Mason tea, how could a girl resist?! Since its opening, the café has been taken over by the folks at Yardbird, who have spruced up the menu to include some utterly delicious salads and sandwiches – the Bacon & Peanut Butter Panini is DIVINE… whilst I don’t know what they did to their eggplant as I don’t even like the stuff normally, but I wolfed it down in no time! The cakes are just too pretty not to drool over; they’re currently from Mrs B’s, although chef May from Yardbird mentioned she might be overhauling the pastries selection soon too!

Although the Beauty Style campaign and promotion is running at all Lane Crawford stores, we reckon this is the perfect opportunity to check out the revamped Canton Road location. After all, it is now THE beauty and style desination in TST… so what better time to head over to the “Dark Side” girls!
