Fairy Tale Fashion

1 November, 2010

There’s something about dressing for Autumn that brings out the kid in all of us, whether it’s memories of scrunching through Autumn leaves in our brand new winter coats, or the wish to return to the cosiness of childhood to enjoy steaming mugs of hot chocolate clasped in mitten-ed hands… We’re loving these not-so-serious pieces that bring a touch of fairy tale magic to our wardrobes!

How could you resist this bright red cape from Paul & Joe sister available via Net-a-Porter? With an all black outfit and sparkly flats you’ll still be sophisticated but so much more fun that the sea of black that we see on the streets every day – a real “stand out from the crowd” piece for a modern day little red riding hood!

Peter Pan collars are everywhere this season, like on this Topshop dress. I like how the black and leopard print makes it not too “little girly” but still young and cute – probably a style that works for more boyish figures.

These super-sparkly heels from Kurt Geiger are not for wallflowers! In fact, we think they’re a little bit like Cinderella’s glass slippers, though we wouldn’t let one of these fall from our feet even if it did catch us Prince Charming…

Continuing the blinged-out theme, check out Kate Spade’s Ice Queen necklace from her Ice Queen jewellery set – the perfect rocks to glam up a party frock or jeans and a t-shirt, and we love how the chain detail makes this chunky collar feel so this season.

Do you like adding light-hearted dress-up pieces to your look? Or would you find the items above a bit too costumey for everyday wear?
