Now open on Wan Chai’s Ship Street, Mr Brown is the second venture from the team behind Middle-Eastern favourite, FRANCIS. This grill and smokehouse will serve up a range of dishes, inspired by Head Chef Asher Goldstein’s home town of Tel Aviv and the Mediterranean region, along with his experience of wood fire cooking in Australia. Split into small starter plates, vegetable dishes, larger smoke and grill plates, as well as desserts, the food at Mr Brown is created to be shared, with notable items on the menu including smoked Iberico pork neck muffin ($70 each), brisket, peppercorn, pickled onion and BBQ sauce ($180) and sea bass, fenugreek leaf and lemon ($200), not to mention the caramel slice, malt & hazelnut crumble, burnt meringue dessert($70) . Drinks on offer include a curated list of 50 small label wines, alongside five international craft beers on tap and an array of cocktails.

New to the Central area comes Lee Ho Sing, a modern Cantonese takeaway and snack eatery. Translated directly to mean “You’re So Smart”, this new restaurant draws inspiration from Hong Kong’s unique cosmopolitan culture to reinvent traditional street food. Menu items include its signature salted egg yolk chicken nuggets ($38), truffle cheese chicken wings ($38), homemade curry bowl ($33) and specialty drinks such as the red bean ice cream float ($28) and grass jelly coconut milk drink ($28). Sure to be a hit with those who live or work in Central, a quick, affordable lunch can be found at Lee Ho Sing, with the 63° egg flat noodles with X.O. sauce, a snack and a drink costing just $55. The interior design is also sure to draw in crowds, complete with artistic murals and numerous “Insta-worthy” spots, including Lee Ho Sing’s lion mascot.

Special Menus and Offers
The Hong Kong Sevens is only weeks away, and Mirage Bar & Restaurant is getting set for the festivities by bringing back its annual OMG Burger Challenge! Consisting of 800-grams of beef, topped with twelve strips of extra crispy smoked bacon, four fried eggs, condiments and a whole caramelised onion, the burger is priced at $666, but can be yours for free if you eat the whole thing (and fries!) in 40 minutes or less. If you’re after something a little smaller, Mirage will also be serving its Plain Ole Burger ($198), Double Bacon Cheese Burger ($258) and Steak Sando ($268), along with the newly launched Impossible Burger ($258) – featuring the new Impossible Burger 2.0. All burgers will be available from Monday, 18 March until Tuesday, 30 April, and come served with your choice of crispy steak house chips or sweet potato fries.

Sheung Wan speakeasy restaurant and bar, Mrs Pound is sure to delight diners with its newly launched menu. Creations include the Japanese-Italian inspired yuba bolognese ($78), made with Impossible meat, along with meaty dishes such as Sichuanese ma-la beef tongue ($78) and bak kut teh pork ribs ($118). Malaysian laksa prawn dumplings, served with homemade garlic toast ($128) have been added to the “bigger plates” section of the menu, but for a perfect complement to your cocktail, try the revamped skewers, including the sticky coffee pork belly skewers ($38) and the crispy unagi ($55) with Japanese eel and fish skin chips.

If you’re out and about in Wong Chuk Hang, be sure to stop by Komune and try out one or two of its new dishes. Perfect for enjoying in the warmer weather, head to the restaurant’s outdoor terrace to enjoy veggie-friendly dishes, including the burrata bomb, buffalo cauliflower, wild mushroom crostini and sweet potato risotto. Meat and seafood lovers will also be covered with the new grilled hamachi, roasted chicken wings and M5+ Wagyu Ribeye. Not to mention the Pork Ribs, served with an IPA BBQ sauce and baked mac & cheese.

Lovers of crab, get ready, as on Friday, 29 March, CATCH in Kennedy Town is bringing back its hugely popular crab shack event! The crab-centric menu will be an all-you-can-eat affair, with dishes on offer including crispy crab cake tacos, with pickled jicama, guac, crispy seaweed, Tabasco and lime aioli, along with fried soft shell crab, with garlic, salt, pepper and crunchy Thai basil; and a crab boil. The four-course dinner will be priced at $300 for food, or $500 for food and free-flow drinks (for the first sitting, from 6:15pm to 8:15pm), or $350 for food, or $650 for food and free-flow drinks (for the second sitting, from 8:30pm to close).

Spring means sakura season across Japan, with the pretty pink cherry blossom lining streets, and Japanese-Italian restaurant, Aqua is bringing a taste of the season to Hong Kong. From now until Thursday, 18 April, the restaurant will be serving a bespoke seven-course Sakura omakase dinner and unique brunch dishes, as well as wowing guests with its spring garden installation. The dinner will be priced at $1,188 per person, with an optional sake pairing for an additional $488. Dishes will include corn tempura and sakura flower with sea urchin and bamboo shoots, along with seared scallop with red pepper and cherry mousse and homemade ricotta ravioli with cherry emulsion. Aqua’s popular Because Brunch will also feature sakura-inspired dishes such as tuna and seared squid with salted sakura and caviar sushi, and sesame-crusted salmon, Japanese barley and matcha miso with assorted vegetable and sakura shrimp corn tempura. Priced at $688 per person, the brunch features free-flow drinks, including signature cocktails, Veuve Clicquot Champagne and Rihaku Gabizan Junmai Shu Sake, along with special Japanese entertainment for sakura season.

Known as a go-to spot for healthy food on the go, Genie Juicery is upping its game and adding over 30 new dishes and snacks to its menu. New dishes include the Oaxaca Bowl ($70), with red onion, sweet potato, red bell pepper, pecans, black beans, avocado, lettuce, red cabbage and a cumin, smoked paprika and maple syrup dressing; along with Veggie Sushi ($60) and Vegan Pesto Quinoa Bowl ($70). The newly launched FINI’s in both SoHo and Wan Chai are now open and serving up brunch! Perfect for treating yourself come the weekend, dishes are served a la carte and include New York-style pizzas, pork and veal Meatballs, and (of course), the famous Stone Nullah Tavern mac ‘n’ cheese. Lovers of Carbone’s The Fiasco brunch will know all about the opulent free-flow affair, and this month, the brunch is taking over Buenos Aires Polo Club. For one day only, on Saturday, 30 March, the special Art Week edition will see the restaurant transformed to make way for the outlandish brunch. There will be platters of fresh seafood and cold cuts, flame-grilled pure Black Angus prime rib, and a live show playing out between the tables. Two free-flow packages are available to fuel the raucous afternoon: The classic Fiasco is priced at $1,400 and includes red and white wine and prosecco, or the superior Fiasco is priced at $1,800 and includes free-flow spirits and champagne.
