Spiga Veal Cheeks
SPIGA is celebrity chef, Enrico Bartolini’s first venture outside of Italy and with it he has bought truly authentic Italian food to the heart of Central! Along with the intricate décor, which was designed by Hong Kong interior designer, Joyce Wang, the incredible space has been transformed into a dramatic setting which can lend itself to any kind of dinner. Whether you choose a cosy booth (and close the blinds!) for a date night, or book a large table or private room for a more lively affair, you’re sure to be captivated by the gorgeous, vintage-inspired design.

SPIGA not only delivers with it’s beautiful surroundings and buzzy atmosphere, as the food is certainly also something to write home about. Out of the dishes I sampled, a must try was definitely the Risotto with Beetroot and Gorgonzola Cheese Sauce. I’m not even a fan of beetroot, but this dish was amazing! The main flavour came from the gorgeous Gorgonzola cheese (so no complaints here!), giving the dish a real luxurious and comforting taste.

I also loved the Crunchy Veal Cheek with Crispy Potatoes and Dijon Mustard Millefuille; the meat was so succulent and flavoursome, complimented perfectly by the crispy potatoes and subtle Dijon sauce. After the richness of the savoury dishes, do make sure that you save room for something sweet, as again these are not to be missed! I couldn’t get enough of the light Chocolate Foam with Hazelnut Ice Cream and also found the Soft Crème Brulee with Cherries, Meringues and Iced Blueberries to be something really special. SPIGA brings out the big guns on flavour, atmosphere and décor; so give it a try for your next special date night or group celebration dinner!

Spiga Chocolate Foam Dessert

The tasting menu is great value and includes some of SPIGA’s signature dishes, so would be a perfect option for a date night as the all of choosing is done for you! Make sure to also check out PORTICO, the incredible outdoor terrace for pre or post dinner drinks (or just drinks!) They also have a separate pizza and nibbles menu, if you’re after something to soak up the cocktails!
