One of the items that is on my list of things to do this year is learn more about wine. I absolutely love to drink it but my knowledge pretty much extends to knowing the difference between red and white (pathetic… I know)! Since I moved here I have been more inclined to pick up a bottle of Australian wine and sadly I have been neglecting all of the great American wines that I used to drink back at home. So, I need to show the US some love and luckily Altruistic wines is all about educating Hong Kong about the great wine that comes from the States.
Next weekend (23-24 April) Altruistic Wines will be having their official launch by hosting their First Annual US Boutique Wine Festival. It will be held at the JW Marriott and there are a number of events throughout the weekend that cater to any type of wine lover (meaning novices like me to connoisseurs).
The first event will be the Grand Tasting and it will be held on Friday from 2:00pm-9:00pm. Show up anytime during those hours and enjoy tasting wines from the 40 vinyards that will be present during the weekend. There will also be 3 celebrity chef’s on hand (for any Top Chef fans, one of them will be Hosea from Season 5) serving canapes in addition to gourmet foods such as artisanal cheese, Pata Negra and Vero chocolates. Tickets are $400 and can be purchased here.
The following evening there will be a Gala Dinner from 7-11pm. This is a more exclusive event that has a charity element to it. Altruistic will be hosting a rare wine and wine experience auction with all proceeds going to the Hong Kong Cancer Fund. The three celebrity chefs will each cook 2 dishes for the 6 course dinner and each table will have an individual wine owner pairing different wines with the meal. This event has limited availability and the cost is $25,000 per table upon request. To receive more information contact Karin at firstname.lastname@example.org
Here is the list of wineries that will be present. Cheers!
