With all the rugby madness going on this weekend it may be easy to overlook Earth Hour but please try to remember to switch off your lights from 8:30-9:30 tomorrow evening to help raise awareness for climate change. This small step could be the catapult to increasing your own awareness throughout the rest of the year.
I inadvertently took part last year as I was passed out on my couch by 8:30pm from a long day of day drinking at the Sevens so this year I am hoping to make a more conscious effort to do Earth Hour the right way. Hong Kong is doing its part by canceling the Symphony of Lights show tomorrow evening so if you have friends in town for the weekend make sure that you do the whole Light Show thing tonight or Sunday night.
If staying in the complete dark for one hour is a bit too much for you then lighting candles is totally okay but we have heard that you should not use candles that have a metallic wick or are made of paraffin. Beeswax candles are the best and would work if you want to plan a romantic candleight dinner between 8:30 and 9:30 tomorrow evening. Good luck with convincing your man that a romantic dinner to celebrate Earth Hour is more fun then eating kebabs with his buddies in Wanchai!
