Vivian Girls Live in Hong Kong – 9 July

6 July, 2011

ย

This Saturday night (9 July), Songs for Children presents Vivian Girls live in Hong Kong. The indie band from New York City will be playing at Grappa’s Cellar for one night only as part of their Asia tour.

Jane Blondel, the founder of Songs for Children told us thatย their new album ‘Share the Joy’ has received rave reviews and confirmed their place as darlings of the indie scene. Each song on their album is no longer then 2-3 minutes long which they say is mostly due to their very short attention span! They have been listed as fashion icons in various magazines and have also been featured as Band of the Week by Vogue.

Jane also mentioned a little something about their romantic lives as well. Apparently, Kickball Katy (the redhead in the above pic) has been canoodling with Hollywood indie royalty, Michael Cera!

About Songs for Children: Jane Blondel and Mike Mystery were told by a fortune teller to go to the Far East, butย she forgot to tell them there were no indie clubs! Soย Songs for Childrenย began in 2009, and has grown a solid following with regular club nights, with a solid โ€œNo Coldplayโ€ guarantee and a dedication to avoiding male bands with beards. Guest DJ sets atย Indietracks Festival UK,ย Clockenflap Festival HK andย Twee Grrrls Club Tokyo.ย Songs for Children have brought Theoretical Girl, The Bobby McGeesย ,ย Dig for Victory Fashion Show,ย Cats on Fire,ย Asobi Seksu,ย JJ andย The Drums to Hong Kong so far.
