Top 10 Singapore Restaurants for Foodies

8 June, 2015

There’s so much travelling back-and-forth between Hong Kong and Singapore, (and of course, we have our fabulous Sassy Singapore site to help you out in your hour of need!) that we reached out to our sisters across the sea to get their die-hard-must-try list of restos to hit up in the little red dot.

Here, in no particular order, are their Top 10 foodie-pleasing picks (plus a few honourable mentions because it’s practically impossible to whittle this foodie city down to just ten eating spots!)…

Restaurants in Singapore - JAAN1. Jaan
Ranked at number 11 in 2015’s Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list, this super-swank restaurant located in the Swissôtel is not your ordinary hotel dining option. Chef Julien Royer takes inspiration from seasonal produce and includes a ton of veggies in his light and fresh, French-influenced cuisine.

Jaan, Swissôtel The Stamford, 2 Stamford Road, Singapore 178882, (+65) 6837 3322, www.jaan.com.sg

Restaurants in Singapore - Tippling Club2. Tippling Club
This achingly cook cocktail bar has so much more going for it than just their famous libations. Chill out by the bar or head upstairs to their luxuriously-appointed dining room to sample one of their amazing tasting menus, where every course pairs perfectly with a cocktail or wine. An unmissable gastronomic experience (though prepare to get your drinking boots on!).

Tippling Club, 38 Tanjong Pagar Road, Singapore 088461, (+65) 6475 2217, www.tipplingclub.com

Restaurants in SIngapore - Immigrants Gastrobar3. Immigrants Gastrobar
For an authentic taste of Singapore’s mixing pot of ethnic cuisines, journey out to the East Coast to sample the Chinese, Eurasian, Indian, Malay and Peranakan fare at Immigrants. Not only is the food finger-licking good, but their selection of craft beers is awesome.

Immigrants Gastrobar, 467 Joo Chiat Road, Singapore 427678, (+65) 85117322, www.immigrants-gastrobar.com

Restaurants in Singapore - Les Amis4. Les Amis
One of the grand dames of the Singapore restaurant scene, Les Amis is located in the heart of Orchard Road, making it the ultimate destination for ladies who lunch. If you want to make a big splash, this is the place to do it!

Les Amis, 1 Scotts Road, #01-16 Shaw Centre, Singapore 228208, (+65) 6733 2225, www.lesamis.com.sg

Restaurants in Singapore - &SONS5. &SONS
The CBD can be a bit of a graveyard if you’re looking for a funky lunch or post-work bite, which is why &SONS, a Venetian “bacaro” bar is always jumping with the suited and booted crew. Don’t let that put you off though – the tapas dishes are among the best we’ve ever tasted, and prices are reasonable too.

&SONS, 20 Cross Street, China Square Centre #01-19, Singapore 048422, (+65) 6221 3927, www.sons.com.sg

Restaurants in Singapore - Bar-Roque Grill6. Bar-roque Grill
Another CBD haunt, this dark and dramatic bistro is a real man-pleaser given its hearty portions and droolworthy steaks and meat platters. We love to grab a seat on the terrace to watch the world go by with a glass of vino.

Bar-roque Grill, Corner of Amara Hotel, 165 Tanjong Pagar Road, #01-00, Singapore 088539, (+65) 9115 6686, www.bar-roque.com.sg

7. Nagomi
The best Japanese restos in Singers are eye-wateringly expensive, and unfortunately Nagomi is no exception, but if you’re in the mood to push the boat out, you won’t be disappointed. Its tiny-weeny size and unprepossessing location are deceptive – this is a culinary giant! Let the chef decide what you eat with their omakase menu.

Nagomi, 5 Koek Road, #02-22 Cuppage Plaza, Singapore 228796, (+65) 6732 4300, www.nagomirestaurant.com.sg

Restaurants in Singapore - Osteria8. Osteria Art
This brand-new to the scene Italian fine-dining hotspot is the name on everybody’s lips right now due to the superstar at its helm: Beppe de Vito, restauranteur du jour (behind Bali’s Il Lido restaurant). It might be a newcomer, but we predict great things.

Osteria Art, 55 Market Street, #01-01, Singapore 048941, (+65) 6877 6933, www.osteriaart.com

Restaurants in Singapore - Long Chim9. Long Chim
Brought to us by celeb chef David Thompson (behind world-renowned Nahm Restaurant), this thai-inspired new resto won’t be serving up any old Pad Thai. Despite the chi-chi location in the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, expect street food faves and prices that don’t veer into the stratosphere.

Long Chim, #02-02, Atrium 2, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, 10 Bayfront Avenue, Singapore 018955, (+65) 6688 7299, www.longchim.com.sg

Restaurants in Singapore - Artichoke10. Artichoke
We can’t exactly pinpoint what makes Artichoke such a big fave with the Sassy team. Whether it’s the unpretentious vibe, the flavourful food or the freshness of the produce, we lap it up and ask for more. Need a great place for a night out with the girls? This is a great chilled-out option.

Artichoke, 161 Middle Road, Sculpture Square, Singapore, tel: (+65) 6336 6949, www.artichoke.com.sg

heart-pinkHonourable mentions: Southbridge (for sexy oysters and champers, naturally), Restaurant Andre (for a super-foodie date night), Chao San Teochew Restaurant (for authentic Teochew) and Otowa (hole in the wall yakitori).
