One of my firm favourite restaurants in Hong Kong is The Pawn – I often get cravings for their classic Fish & Chips served with mushy peas. The Raspberry Bakewell tart also hits my comfort food sweet spot. I love the historic building and sitting on the balcony on a summer evening, gazing out at the Wanchai night (it’s not in the seedy part of Wanchers – there are just a lot of people walking by!).
The Pawn has recently extended itself even further within the labyrinthine building it occupies, to create a lovely roof garden on, you’ve guessed it, the roof, where they’re going to be serving up an all-you-can-eat barbecue brunch on weekends. Kicking off this Easter Sunday, you can enjoy traditional gastro-pub grub in the open air, like British bangers, Rosemary Roast Potatoes and Lemon and thyme chicken between the hours of 11.30am til 4.30pm. Best of all for the morning after the night before, you will be welcomed with your choice of a Bloody Mary, Kir Royale or Mimosa. Perfect for chasing away those hangover blues.
The inaugural brunch will be on Sunday April 4th, and will feature an easter egg hunt to keep the kids (and big kids) entertained. Book early if you’re in town for Easter as this is sure to be a very popular option for those staying in town! The cost for the brunch is $388 per head plus 10% service charge.
