Whether you’re going vegan, or just trying to eat a more plant-based diet, Oatly is one product that is making the switch easier than ever, and is also helping our health and the environment along the way
From sustainability and environmental reasons, to animal rights, health benefits, personal taste preferences, dietary restrictions and beyond, there are countless reasons why more and more people are turning towards plant-based diets. With vegetarian and vegan diets on the rise globally, and in Hong Kong, consumers are looking for replacements for produce such as meat, dairy and eggs. And one product that’s making the switch to a more plant-based diet a piece of cake? Oatly.
Now, we’re not saying that everyone has to go vegan, (we’re not sure what we’d do without cheese and chocolate), but reducing the amount of animal produce in your diet can have a seriously positive impact on our health and the environment. Founded in the 1990s, Oatly is a Swedish Oat milk brand that is bringing health and environmental benefits to people around the world. With health benefits such as less saturated fat and more soluble fibre than cow’s milk, oat milk is a great alternative to dairy. And if you haven’t tried it, it also makes a mean latte, trust us.
Along with the obvious health benefits of oat milk in comparison to cows milk, it can also be hugely beneficial to the environment; with the production of oat milk producing 80% less greenhouse gas emissions, 79% less land usage and 60% less energy than dairy. Not bad for just switching up your morning coffee, right?
Oatly is now available at coffee houses across the city, such as The Second Sip by Studio Caffeine in Tai Hang and Black Sugar Coffee in TST East, and the brand has also partnered with Pacific Coffee shops across Hong Kong, in support of World Environment Day.
Throughout the month of June, Oatly and Pacific Coffee are encouraging us all to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle through a range of offers and promotions. The vegan drink is available as a replacement to dairy in a range of beverages at 73 Pacific Coffee stores across the 852 (for an additional $4), making the plant-based offering easily accessible for all. What’s more, from now until Saturday, 30 June, swing by a Pacific Coffee Shop and you can enjoy buy-one-get-one Oatly coffees to share with a friend.
