Forest Bird Autumn/Winter Collection

8 October, 2010

There is something so incredibly lovely about fall and winter clothes and I always find my mood to be a little more upbeat when there is a crisp feeling in the air. Without a doubt I attribute my perkiness to the fact that I get to wrap myself up in uber comfy shirts, sweaters and jeans and it is the season where I should probably check myself into credit card rehab as I tend to go a little nutso in the shops.

One of my favourite parts of Sassy is getting the inside scoop on what is hitting our favourite boutiques each season and since I am totally obsessed with all things related to fall I  always pay a bit more attention to the Fall/Winter Collections. Forest Bird, which in my opinion is probably one of the most lust worthy boutiques in town, has just released some new items to add to their Autumn/Winter Collection. They have some pretty amazing clothes from brands such as Enza Costa, Kaviar Gauche, Mongrel, Perret Schaad and Rue du Mail and I say it is definitely worth popping in for a nice cup of coffee, a bit of cake and a splurge or two on some key items from fall.

Here are my personal favourites from the new collection:

This Enza Costa stripped shirt would be my absolute go to piece for everything this fall. I can imagine wearing it with black skinny jeans, a leather jacket and boots for a slightly dressed up look or dressed down with worn in jeans and a coloured flat for the weekend. I can even imagine throwing it over my trusty black yoga pants so I can look presentable and put together heading to the gym.

I think I am in absolute love with this Mongrel blouse. The colour is so rich and beautiful and it is a wonderful departure from my go to black. I tend to wear things a bit form fitting on top so the fact that this blouse is a tiny bit loose but still has shape would be the perfect first step in leaving my structured comfort zone. I can just imagine this with a pair of fabulous skinny jeans and to die for black or chocolate brown heels and a fabulous leopard skin clutch.

I am a total belt girl and sometimes I have to resist the urge to belt everything but this Ru du Mail belt is a must have this fall as most of my belts are either very skinny or on the chunky side. This is just so classic looking and I will be justifying it to the credit card police as an investment that will be reached for over and over for many years to come!

I think this ’24-Hour Black Dress’ by Kaviar Gauche dress is the perfect transition piece for those in between seasons. You can pair it with a bare leg and heels when it is still on the warmer side or throw on a pair of tights with a platform high heel for those cooler months when the temperature dips. I love that this dress looks like it flows so beautifully and the nipped in waist gives this dress just enough structure for me.
