Win the chance to take part in a Battle of the Bakers, Sassy style!

25 November, 2014

If you’re a fan of The Great British Bake Off, then you’ll love Hong Kong’s version – Battle of the Bakers! This friendly competition, set up by Umami Concepts and The Rose Petal Cakery, sees amateur bakers come together to learn essential baking skills from some of Hong Kong’s top chefs. Every week the contestants are put to the test, whisking up fanciful fondants and perfect pastries to test their progress… and the judges then have the difficult task of deciding who will be eliminated. That’s right, it’s like a real life Masterchef!

The competition is now heating up, and people are waiting to see which cookie will crumble under the pressure… Ok, it’s not quite that dramatic (this is all just about having fun!) but it is pretty cool to see that such passionate and talented bakers exist in our city. They’ve already conquered a range of challenges, from a Decorated Cookie challenge to a Healthy Baking challenge, and up next is a Macaroon challenge…

Check out the video above to see what the competition entails… each contest is talented in their own way, and it’s so interesting to see the different takes they have on the the same challenges. Watch as they get creative with that flour power!

Like the look of Battle of the Bakers? Sad you missed out on being a contestant? Well now’s your chance to get in on the action and try your hand at baking. We’re giving two lucky readers the chance to participate in the upcoming macaroon round of Battle of the Bakers… yum. You’ll meet the contestants, see their creations and learn how to make your very own pink, Sassy macaroons!

And don’t worry, as you’ll be in very safe hands at The Mixing Bowl, where baking is the name of the game. Known for their passion for baking, scrumptious breads and macaroon skills, you’ll walk away from The Mixing Bowl with some brand new skills.
