This time for Africa!
Waka Waka Eh Eh! In the words of Shakira, there will be plenty of African spirit in the air this Saturday at Honi Honi’s Africa Soul Party with congas, dancers and body painting, so throw on your best “tropical-chic” outfit and get ready to enjoy some Caribbean beats! Master cocktail maker and shaker, Max Traverse and his team will be serving up a special concoction called the “Bumsie” cocktail – are you as intrigued as we are to try it?! There is so much buzz around Honi Honi right now (we’ve heard you have to book a table weeks in advance), so now’s the perfect chance to check out this tropical paradise and party African-style!

Get your grill on!
This cooler January weather is just perfect for alfresco dining, rooftop bbqs and, last but not least, Azure’s Terrace Grill Menu! For the whole month of January, Azure is turning up the heat and grilling juicy Australian lamb racks, cuts of Wagyu beef, whole spring chickens and fresh king prawns for your tasting pleasure. Marinated overnight and then slowly grilled over barbecue coal, meat lovers will be licking their lips while dining on Azure’s famous rooftop terrace and taking in the stunning city views from the heart of LKF.

When: Until 31 January
Where: 29 & 30/F, Hotel LKF by Rhombus, 33 Wyndham Street, Lan Kwai Fong, Central, Hong Kong

Art attack!
The Fotanian Open Studio event, now in its 13th year, is open for the next two weekends and is more popular than ever! Last year, more than 10,000 people wandered their way through 80 industrial loft studios of Fo Tan’s vibrant artistic community – so it’s high time you got exploring the New Territories and joined them! This year, over 250 artists will be opening their studio doors to art lovers, so you can get up close and personal with their artwork, their workplaces and chat more about their techniques and inspiration.

When: 12-13 & 19-20 January; studios are open 2-7pm
Where: Wah Luen Industrial Centre and nearby buildings, 15-21 Wong Chuk Yeung Street, Fo Tan, Hong Kong
How much: Free! Pick up a map of the studios at the table in front of Wah Luen Industrial Centre; see all the venues here

A whole lotta history
If you can’t quite commit to reading Les Misérables or Anna Karenina, don’t fret – simply head along to the cinema to catch these two literary masterpieces on the silver screen! Everyone is talking about the all-star cast of Les Mis (Hugh Jackman! Anne Hathaway! And we have a definite soft spot for Eddie Redmayne too *wink*); we reckon you’ll be snapping up its stirring soundtrack almost as soon as you leave the cinema! Meanwhile, Keira Knightley gets her turn to shine as Anna Karenina in the hotly-anticipated version of Leo Tolstoy’s classic, seeing her join forces once more with director Joe Wright – and if their work on Atonement and Pride & Prejudice is anything to go by, we’re bound to love Anna Karenina (and its gorgeous costumes) too!

When: Les Misérables out now; Anna Karenina showing from January 10
Where: All good cinemas in Hong Kong!
