WEEKENDER: Hullet House Christmas Market, Clockenflap, Henry Holland at Fly and More!

9 December, 2011

Can you believe it’s only two weeks until Christmas?! Where did all that time go? Here’s another weeks worth of great events to keep you busy… in-between all the Christmas shopping and mince pie scoffing of course.

It’s eggnog time!
Others might look forward to Santa and Christmas stockings… but we’re more excited about our one chance in the year to down eggnog with abandon! Hullett House Christmas Market will be selling all of our favourite festive delights, including sausages, Christmas cake, stollen, mulled wine and eggnog, of course. There will also be Christmas carols to get you in the Yuletide mood and other seasonal cards, ornaments and gifts on sale too. Is it too much to hope for actual snow?

When: 9 December, 3-9pm; 10-11 December, 12-9pm

Fashion on the Fly
Electric Sekki continues to bring us closer to all the hottest names in fashion – and this time, it’s for a fab one-off night at Fly with London’s finest (and Agyness Deyn’s BFF), Henry Holland, the man behind the super cool House Of Holland label. It’s hip, it’s happening… and there’s a free flow of vodka mixers from 11pm ‘til 12am too. Need we say more?!

Indie faves Bombay Bicycle Club, Santigold and The Cribs are headlining, with a host of other local and international bands playing on five stages throughout the whole weekend. There’s also a film tent showing non-stop short films, animations and videos (including an appearance from acclaimed music video artist Vincent Moon), a craft market, kids area and lots of food and drink stalls too – and did we mention… it’s totally FREE!

When: 10-11 December, 12-10pm

Christmas cinema classics
We love Rooftop Cinema –does it get much better than classic cinema screened under the stars amidst Central’s stunning skyline?! Well, it just did – with their special Christmas film screenings! Get musical with Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas on Monday or get fabulously festive for Love Actually on Wednesday… no really, is it too much to hope for actual snow?!

The course of true love never did run smooth…
We can never resist a bit of The Bard and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, with its blend of romance, comedy and magic, is no exception! The AFTEC’s company of talented young actors will be transplanting the action to 1900s Hong Kong and mixing in some Chinese folklore too, for a unique and enchanting take on one of Shakespeare’s finest and most entertaining plays.
