Top 5…Cupcakes

9 September, 2010

Sugary sweet and delicious, sometimes the need strikes and you’ve just got to cupcake it up. The perfect Friday afternoon snack or accompaniment to a girls’ night in, here are our top five places to cupcake in the city.

Sift
46 Graham Street, Central – 2530 4288
22/F Horizon Plaza, Unit 17-19, Ap Lei Chau – 2870 3887
G/F, Dominion Center, 49-53 Queens Rd East, Wanchai – 2528 0084

Our favourite cupcakes: light, moist and delicious. It’s a toss-up between the red velvet and banana foster. Best eaten on the day you buy, we’ve even been known to have two ‘so they won’t go to waste’.

Complete Deelite
6/F California Entertainment Building, 34-36 D’Aguilar Street, Central
Moving to – 2-3/F On Lan Centre, 11-15 On Lan Street, Central – 3167 7022

One of our favourite cupcakeries is moving home on 15th September – make a mental note! They also hold super fun and girly cake decorating and cupcake workshop classes. Educational and yummy.

Mandarin Oriental Cake Shop
5 Connaught Road, Central – 2825 4008
Classy cakes of all description – we’re not sure if scones count as cupcakes but they’re definitely in the same family, so don’t forget to pick some up while you’re here! Their rose jam is divine.

Cakealicious
11 Lyndhurst Terrace, Central – 2815 2218
Lyndhurst Terrace’s sweetest spot for extra-large cupcakes, you’ll find it by following the smell of cake batter down the road…yum.

Coco
G/F, The Mira, 118-130 Nathan Road, TST – 2315 5566
Fancy hotel cupcakes that require forks to tackle. Not for the faint of heart.
