The Devil’s in the Detail: Rest Detail, Hua Hin

16 December, 2010

Not your average boutique hotel (though Rest Detail is certainly cool and intimate, with only 56 rooms and suites), Rest Detail is all about payingโ€ฆyes, you guessed itโ€ฆattention to every aspect of your stay.

Spacious, open and airy with lots of white accentuated by vibrant tropical colours, unique tile mosaics and waterfall features, Rest Detail is a quirky, fun and very charming. A great place to stay in Hua Hin with a beachfront location, pack off the boyf or the hubbie to play a round of golf on one of the eight courses nearby while you lounge by the pool or in the Restfully Yours spa.

Rest Spirit rooms feature floating island beds, funky showers and an outdoor terrace to catch the warm coastal breezes from the Gulf of Thailand. We love the zesty colours and upbeat, cheery vibe โ€“ it makes a nice change from the formal, and sometimes austere, design of larger resorts.

Pool and beach village rooms occupy prime position on the main swimming pool and beach and are extremely spacious at about 700 square feet. The pool village rooms open right onto a private deck that leads to a pair of sunbeds perched over the main pool, while the beach villas are just steps away from the sand lawn โ€“ yes, a sand lawn!

Unfortunately the beaches in Hua Hin generally arenโ€™t quite as nice as Phuket or some of the other Thai islands, but the spectacular pool and sand lawn cabanas are still lovely places to while away the day.

With iPod docking stations in each room (theyโ€™ll even lend you an iPod if you forget yours) and free wi-fi, itโ€™s easy to create your own slice of home in Hua Hin.

About 5 minutesโ€™ drive from town (around THB 150 if you take a tuk tuk), thereโ€™s a night market and plenty of tourist activities to keep you entertained โ€“ though if you chose to stay in the hotel, we wouldnโ€™t blame you!

We love this fun, pretty and charming resort and itโ€™s great value too. Perfect for a mini-break away, Rest Detail is definitely one to visit in 2011.

Rest Spirit rooms from THB 5,850 (approximately HKD 1,500); pool village rooms from THB 9,750 (approximately HKD 2,500).
