I’m not usually drawn to clean lines and simple colours – for me, prints, ruffles and piled-on accessories usually form my style inspiration. Browsing through the photos from the Autumn/Winter 2010 collections though, I kept coming back to Stella McCartney‘s show and admiring the sleek tailoring and wearable designs. I love the slim but mannish jumpers, but for me it’s also the shoes. We’ve been heralding the return of the pointy-toed shoe here at Sassy, and these outfits really show how flattering the nude pointy shoes that the models are wearing really are. After a year of outrageous shoe styles, such quiet understatement feels like a breath of fresh air.
I also love the way Stella McCartney herself looks in this style – it’s always nice to see something on a real person (slim as they might be) just to gauge if it’s a look that will work for you off the runway! Don’t you just love those trousers?
