Rest your weary feet at Dragonfly Spa

20 August, 2010

I am a total heel girl. I feel most like myself in a pair of fabulous heels and I can pretty much justify the need for them in most occasions. I normally just grin and bear it when it comes to wobbling up and down large hills here in Hong Kong and very rarely complain about my feet hurting after a long day in stilettos. Well recently, I had my payback experience as this new pair of strappy black high heels destroyed my poor little footsies. It happened at our last Sassy Hour and I didn’t realize how hurt my feet were until after I got home. They were sore, tired and hating me for putting them through hours of standing with little to no support.

I really thought the soreness would go away come morning but it didn’t so Hester and I marched ourselves (I was in heels of course) to Dragonfly Spa, which had just opened in the Novotel Century Hotel in Wanchai, for some pampering. One of my favourite things to do in Hong Kong is get foot massages and upon hearing that this foot spa has received awards from Time Out in Shanghai for being the best foot massage around knew I had to check it out.

This spa is all about the relaxation and there is a huge emphasis on Sleep Therapy which is a unique selection of services that is sure to melt the stress away. During your massage the staff at Dragonfly will use their “deep sleep” aroma oil and you even have a choice of three pillows, the Sweet Memories Pillow, Dreamy Night Pillow and the Cuddle Down Pillow, that you can use to rest your tired head. The absolute best part for me is the uber comfy blanket which made me feel as if I was snuggling up to go to sleep.

We both selected the Worlds Away massage ($660/60 Minutes) which is a simultaneous Head/Shoulder Massage + foot massage. For 60 minutes we were swept away into dreamland as two therapists eased all the stress and soreness away from our feet, shoulders and head. The rooms at Dragonfly are dark and quiet and talking is not encouraged so we both used the time to catch up on some z’s.

As with any good foot massage place, the hour quickly flew by and we found ourselves back into the reality that is Hong Kong. As we ventured out of the calming spa (feeling extremely relaxed) we were greeted by a torrential rain storm and the craziness of rush hour. For some reason though, this didn’t faze us like it normally would …Dragonfly really must melt all the stress away.
