Power Facial at The Mandarin Salon – a 40 minute rejuvenating time warp

21 June, 2012

My skin has weathered a few storms recently: four long-haul flights, a hefty dose of jet lag and the recent onset of humidity have all left it gasping for a bit of TLC. Trouble is, I hardly have enough time to do my hair let alone a spare couple of hours to sneak away for a facial (…first world problems!).

And ladies, I know I’m not alone. Balancing work and play in Hong Kong can often make finding time for beauty treatments next to impossible.

Fortunately, The Mandarin Salon at The Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong has seen our chaotic calendars and heard our cries for an efficient yet effective beauty solution. Created especially for busy corporate executives and those in desperate need of an instant pick-me-up, the new 40-minute Power Facial has recently been added to The Mandarin Salon’s treatment menu. Powered by the Gaylia Kristensen skincare range, the Power Facial promises to reinvigorate even the most tired of complexions in less than an hour. The products used are highly concentrated, ensuring penetration well beyond the skin’s surface for effective regeneration and noticeable results.

With the room temperature set to ‘perfect’ and the lights dimmed to ‘just right’, the treatment began with a deep cleanse and exfoliation to renew and brighten the skin. Following this, a stress-releasing lymphatic facial massage was carried out while a collagen eye mask refreshed my eye area and a hydrating lip mask quenched my parched pout. The treatment was topped off with a generous application of Gaylia Kristensen deluxe serum (or cream – the therapist deems which is most suitable for your skin type) to lift, firm and lock in moisture.

Bang on the 40-minute mark, my skin felt fresh, dewy and incredibly smooth. To be honest, I half expected the experience to feel slightly too short but because I was made to feel so relaxed and the therapist was so attentive, it was like being swept up in a rejuvenating time warp. The treatment may be quick but rest assured that doesn’t compromise its effectiveness.

The following day I received a few passing comments about my post Power Facial skin. The feel good factor lasted long after the treatment so this is definitely something I’d look at getting again – especially when I’m feeling frazzled and short of free time.

The Power Facial costs $850 for 40 minutes and is exclusive to The Mandarin Salon in Hong Kong.
