Need a quick shot of inspiration, girls? Here’s our top ten picks for this month’s food, books, fashion and nights out, all condensed and served up in yummy bite-sized pieces just for you… sweet!
British makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury has created looks for brands including Tom Ford, Stella McCartney, Burberry and H&M, contributed to Vogue shoots and Alexander McQueen runway shows, and collaborated with friends including Kate Moss and Katie Grand. So the news she has created her own line of cosmetics (an unheard-of 100-piece collection!) is the most exciting beauty news for a long time! The ten colour-themed ‘wardrobes’ include The Rebel (Debbie Harry), The Dolce Vita (Sophia Loren) and The Rock Chick (Kate Moss). Sassy loves the Rock ‘n’ Kohl and Full Fat Mascara. Collection available now via Net-a-Porter
In the diary for 7 December, Blohk Party comes hot on the heels of this year’s Clockenflap – but we hear this one-day festival is being organised by Hong Kong-based entrepreneur/designer Kevin Poon, international fixer supremo Alex Ng and curated by non other than Pharrell. Totally worth any potential party-fatigue, no?! With VIP areas available so you can really party in style, check out the website for updates.
Sassy is totally digging this Tory Burch Scarab-print tote, sold in collaboration with Lane Crawford’s Be Inspired campaign to raise funds for The Women’s Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls right here in Hong Kong. Shop online or check it out in all its creepy-crawly glory at Lane Crawford’s stores in ifc, Times Square or Harbour City.
Every year produces another fashion documentary that is (more often than not!) hugely insightful and entertaining. The industry’s latest gem is Mademoiselle C, a glimpse inside the fabulous world of Carine Roitfeld – former editor of French Vogue and muse to none other than Tom Ford – as she charts a fresh path in New York, setting up her own magazine, CR Fashion Book. Beautiful clothes, eccentric characters, amazing parties, and the exploration of the universal themes that all women grapple with makes this a must-see.
Maureen, a small dining joint off Stone Nullah Lane in Wan Chai, has raised the bar when it comes to noodles by adding a molecular gastronomy element to their dishes. Although it’s been open a little while, Sassy just can’t get enough of owner Maureen Loh’s take on noodle dining! Famed for their lo mien served with sesame foam, the noodles can be paired with sous vide salmon or, for the more adventurous, 48-hour braised abalone.

Having spent time out of the limelight after leaving Jimmy Choo, Tamara Mellon is back with an all-new, eponymously named brand that will launch online this month. We also get an inside look at her life to date with her memoir, In My Shoes – which provides a fascinating look at the workings of a luxury brand from financial and creative struggles, to her own personal challenges.
With hit single Royals at the top of the Billboard charts, 16-year-old Kiwi Lorde is the youngest person in 26 years to achieve that status. Very much the girl to watch right now, her debut album Pure Heroine has a dreamy electronic vibe, featuring moody pop that feels very fresh.
Obsessed by Instagram? Cocoagraph will take your best Insta-shots and apply those images to artisan, printed chocolate bars to give you an edible, Polaroid-style bar. All you have to do is choose your preferred flavour – milk, dark or white – and in three to five days, your personalised sweets are all wrapped up and on their way (do check shipping costs though, as these can work out to be quite expensive!). Shop online here.
Animal lovers need look no further for gift ideas for the holiday season, as Stella McCartney has created the cutest Moon Bear T-shirts on behalf of Animals Asia. While many charity tees become sleepwear, Sassy girls will rock wearing something that raises funds to help end bear bile farming, where these majestic creatures are caged for up to 30 years in order for their bile to be extracted for use in traditional medicine. And if it’s really not your thing, we say buy them for friends’ kids or as stocking fillers for the family!
Much beloved by fashion folk and girls-in-the-know, Diptyque candles now have a new plug-in home scent diffuser. The sculptural Un Air de Diptyque uses a slide-in capsule that lasts 40 hours and, once pressed, kicks off a cycle that expels your favourite scent every ten minutes. Sassy’s go-to scent? Baies, which puts us in good company, as it is also actress Eva Mendes favourite!
