Nathan King Photography

20 August, 2010

I’m always so jealous of those organized people who manage to always print out their digital photos and put them into lovely albums, and who have tons of beautiful frames full of family pictures arranged around their apartments and on the walls. My photos pretty much always languish on my computer, sometimes getting a brief airing on Facebook, but generally I don’t get to enjoy them daily. Having my wedding photos done was such a revelation for me – now we have a set of gorgeous professional pictures that we can keep forever, and which have already been printed out beautifully for me to pop straight (well, after 6 months I finally got around to it!) into an album to keep as special memories… It totally sold me on the value of professional photography, and now that we’re expecting our first baby in October, I’m planning once again to make sure that we don’t let the moment pass us by and get some pictures done in the first few days of her life.

One of the Hong Kong photographers I like who is very up-and-coming at the moment is Nathan King, an award-winning photographer originally from South Africa. He has a very modern, clean aesthetic that is a world away from traditional posed shots, and he does a very wide range of work, from portraiture (babies, families, groups of friends) to artistic shots of daily life in Hong Kong (check out his wet market images which really capture the soul of the Hong Kong streets).

Nathan has just set up a studio in Central near Queen’s Road, and is offering a special introductory price for Sassy members and readers. Until the end of September, you can get 10% off the price of a photo session when you mention that you heard about him from Sassy!

Nathan can be contacted by emailing [email protected] or by calling 6448 2414. Check out more examples of his work on the Nathan King website.
