Natalie Portman for Miss Dior Cherie

7 March, 2011

We went to see Black Swan on Friday afternoon and having not been to the movies in an age, we felt almost giddy as we went into the cinema. Maura whispered to me, “I feel like I’m about to see Sex and the City of something!”…. Well, Black Swan was CERTAINLY not anything like Sex and the City. From the very first scene you feel irreversibly sucked into the story. Despite it being incredibly dark and disturbing, it was definitely the best film I have seen in so so long and I came out of it with a huge admiration for the incredibly beautiful Miss Portman. I’m not sure I’ve ever though someone was quite so worthy of her Oscar win, and can see why it was such a dead cert.

Natalie Portman is also the new face of Miss Dior Cherie (and incidentally spoke out against John Galliano after his recent anti-semitic rant in a Paris bar, contributing to the designer’s dismissal). The campaign images are totally gorgeous…

…But for some reason the advertisement itself leaves me feeling a little flat. I’m not sure quite what it is…. I love the sudden flash of her in the bath with her sunglasses on (a reference to a particularly scary scene in Black Swan) but for some reason it just feels a bit cheesy to me. What do you think? Have you seen Black Swan?
