Miso Cool

18 August, 2010

I always forget about Stanley Street… For some reason it never stays on the top of my mind which strikes me as odd because it is slowly becoming a favourite of mine for its cool eateries. This past Sunday after an afternoon workout my husband and I were searching for a place to grab a late lunch and I had a serious Ramen craving. Β I have been dying to try Miso Cool on Stanley Street for ages now so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to check it out especially since it was during an off hour – every time I have seen it before during lunch time it has been packed to the brim.

Miso Cool is located on the first floor of 11 Stanley Street which is a building filled with yummy restaurants. The look is minimal yet fun with brown and greens being the dominant colours and the whole vibe of Miso Cool is well, pretty cool. Hip hop (which is a favourite of mine) Β is played all throughout the restaurant and the back wall has pictures of male film stars from undeniably cool movies.

Being that we had just finished a workout we were pretty much starving and were already salivating as we looked through the menu. We ordered fried pork dumplings and soft shell crab as starters followed by a mushroom ramen for me and eel and rice bowl for my husband. The winner by far was my dish. It tasted like a combination of mushroom and seafood broth and it was so good. My husband enjoyed his as well but I think he was having a serious case of food jealousy because he kept trying to steal bites from mine and he even made the comment that he will be ordering that the next time around.

We are huge frozen yogurt fans here at Sassy so I was excited to see that Miso Cool even has fro-yo on the menu as well (you get 1 free topping too!). I was a bit too full after the main course to even think about dessert but I will definitely be back and will save a tiny bit of room to try it out the next time around.

Our meal cost about $230 HKD and was more then enough for two people. We have a tendency to over order sometimes so I think 1 appetizer would be best if you are a party of 2 people.
