Best of the Met – our favourite looks from the Met Gala 2015

The Met Gala 2015 is the ultimate red carpet event, where fashion and fame collide head on and it merges into a dazzling feast for the eyes. Truth be told, in the fashion world, the Met Gala is bigger than the Oscars, because it’s fashion’s night to shine! Personal guests of Anna Wintour, A-list celebrities and fashion bigwigs are invited to come together for an annual fundraising ball for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. Each year, the event is celebrated with a theme of that year’s Costume Institute exhibition that sets the tone for the formal dress of the night.

This year, the theme is “China: Through The Looking Glass”, a compelling homage to Eastern culture influences. Some of the stars went on the red carpet in full force, while others kept it simple… from the flashy to the trashy and everything in between, here are the looks that you simply can’t miss in our Best of the Met!

Fitting for the occasion, theatrics were high on display with headgears to complement the various gowns and dresses. Our money is on Sarah Jessica Parker’s self-designed custom-made dress in collaboration with H&M, topped off with an amazing statement Phillip Treacy headpiece with tassles to boot!

Not to mention the surreal, magical charm of Lady Gaga…

Solange took the theme to a new level with this quite literally inspired fan dress… fan-bulous?!

This regal get-up would make anyone feel like a queen – or a princess. Princess Charlotte may have some competition.

Speaking of queens, Queen Bey has done it again and absolutely blown us away with this stunning yet sexy Givenchy Haute Couture gown by Ricardo Tisci. Studded with crystals and gemstones, Beyonce truly steals the show in this risqué choice.

Hot on the heels of Beyonce is Kim K herself, who also opted for a revealing, peekaboo number by Roberto Cavalli.

Following her sister, Kendall Jenner sports a sleek and sophisticated dress by Calvin Klein (who else? She is the new face of the brand!).

And another young star to strut on the red carpet is Mr. Justin Bieber, flaunting this intricately detailed gold and black Balmain jacket.
