I love pouring over home decorating magazines, and was really sad when my favourite, Domino, went bust last year, leaving a huge gaping hole for a mag targeting women in their twenties and thirties who are interested in design, but not in the possession of Elle-decor type budgets! I was thrilled to discover Lonny Magazine, which is an online-only magazine started by some of the same old Domino team, and featuring some similar content. The homes featured are just as drool-worthy as those in Domino and the spreads are inspiring and informative, full of helpful hints and decorating tips. I just love this Paris home belonging to textile designer, Lisa Fine, which is full of colour, pattern and soft warmth.
I love the cosiness of this bedside nook, painted pink inside with the wall-mounted brass light. I love the idea of the fabric wallpaper too – a litte difficult to execute in Hong Kong though I’d imagine where the humidity might cause issues!
I have a real fondness for mixing and clashing patterns, something my husband finds infuriating as he’d be far happier living in a monotone, minimalist world. I just love piling coloured blankets on beds though, and colourful cushions. I’ve seen some similar ones to the one in the image above in the shop Inside in Prince’s Building.
Finally I love this soft, faded dreamy bedroom with texture and subtle pattern on every surface and Indian-inspired pillows. I would also kill for a big free-standing bathtub – the ultimate HK apartment dream. I used to love taking long, indulgent bubble baths, but there’s something about having to fold yourself into a postage-stamp-sized bathtub which makes showers more popular with me right now. I’m excited to go to Florida for the Christmas holidays and take advantage of a huge American-sized tub.
