More and more brides-to-be are opting not to wear veils on their wedding days, which means that a great hair-do is becoming a tip-top priority! We want your tresses dressed to impress, which is why we’ve rounded up a list of our favourite wedding hair-stylists in Hong Kong. If you’ve been following us on Sassy, you’re bound to recognise a few of our friends (and maybe even a couple of our Sassy Award winners!). Whether you want a health-conscious hair treatment session or a couple’s package in the heart of Central, our top stylists below will keep your big day tangle-free.
A day at the Sassy Award winning salon of 2014 DAZ is unlike any other, and it’s also shockingly one of Hong Kong’s best-kept beauty secrets. Tucked away behind the Mid-Levels escalator, the snazzy urban-vintage salon is the perfect place to forget your wedding planning stresses. The cosy, relaxed atmosphere is completed perfectly by the addition of the ever-friendly creative director Darrin Usher, an Aussie boy with a flair for hair. What sets DAZ apart from their competitors is their unique aesthetic and experienced styling clients from all over the world, meaning that they understand the quirks and perks of every ethnic hair type. While they don’t offer bespoke bridal services per se, they do offer hair-styling and our Sassy Girl Nicole swears by them in her in-depth review here.
Prices on request.

Essensuals Toni & Guy
Essensuals, Toni & Guy’s hipper younger sister, is the place to go for a slightly more affordable and trendier bridal service. While the salon may not have been around all that long, its art director Patrick Chu is in-demand the world over and the company is constantly updating their repertoire with the latest styles and processes to make sure each Essensuals experience is incomparable. We’ve actually done most of the legwork for you and sent one of our girls over for a cheeky trim here. For a chic look straight off the runways in Milan, head over to Essensuals for their bridal Super Service package and unleash your undercover supermodel.
Super Service Bridal package prices on consultation.

You want your hair to look healthy and happy in your wedding photos, which is why we’ve recommended our eco-friendly friends over at Hollywood Hair’s styling services for the best day of your life. We’ve got a thing for Rennie Fensham, the creative director and your Sassy Award Winner for favourite hairstylist in 2011, and love that she brings out the cover girl in every woman. The funky fresh salon is home to a number of equally talented specialist stylists, whether you’re looking for a more sartorial look with Yentl Snyman who’s worked for over a decade in the fashion and advertising industry, or Benjamin Amey, whose invaluable work at an eco-salon ensures your hair remains healthy and more importantly, safe. We definitely recommend Hollywood Hair’s tea-based hair treatment a few days before your wedding.
We sent over Dee to scope out Rennie’s fabulous services and she loved her so much, she actually came back to get primped for her civil ceremony! See her full review (and photos of the event) here.
Bridal services include hair trials ($1300), wedding day services ($1700) and even bridesmaid hair ($1400). They also offer bride and bridesmaid make-up sessions.

The Mandarin Salon
I don’t think anybody’s really surprised The Mandarin Salon is on this list. They’re a Hong Kong institution and their internationally trained stylists are renowned all over the world, whether they’re working at Melbourne fashion week or being trained at Vidal Sassoon in London. All of their stylists have been tried and tested by our Managing Editor Dervla and are 100% Sassy approved as everyone’s at the absolute top of their game, especially Fathima, Rei and Jordan. They actually offer a number of wedding packages depending on whether or not you’d like their talented make up artist to work with you as well; The Mandarin Salon’s all about elegant convenience.

We’re sure that the stylists at Paul Gerrard could whip even Rapunzel’s tangled locks back into shape, but luckily us Sassy Girls aren’t as drastic a case (or, well, we hope!). For you brides-to-be out there, Paul Gerrard’s team of internationally trained hair stylists use high quality EVO Hair UK products imported from across the pond and will have you wedding-ready from cut to colour. They even offer bridal make-up services for your convenience! There’s no place we’d rather be than in the hands of their talented hairdressers – have we mentioned how much we adore their quirky cool interior?

QG Private i
We’ve always put our faith in our That Girl Jasmine Smith as one of Hong Kong’s leading fashion bloggers, so when we asked her where she got her bouncy blonde locks prepped for her big day in her That Bride interview here, we had to include QG Private i Salon in our line up. She actually checked them out for us at Sassy a little while ago in our review here and they’ve been one of her faves ever since. They’ve got locations at the most premier destinations in Hong Kong (Four Seasons? Check. IFC mall? Check) and their international aesthetic makes them a perfect fit for all you sassy girls out there. We’ve been told to definitely grab an appointment with one of their hairdressers, Teddy, and their colourist, Andy Wong, so we’ll be giving them a ring in the near future. (We do miss you though John, come back from Taiwan!)
Sozo Hair Design
We don’t like recommending anything to our girls that we wouldn’t try ourselves, so we sent Dee, one of our Sassy Girls (and new bride, congratulations!), to scope out Sozo’s hair and make-up frontier. She fell absolutely in love with their talented team of hair stylists, particularly Japanese hair stylist superstar Michiko who has over 15 years of experience and does it all: from u-dos to cuts to colouring! For a team who knows how to get your wedding hair prepped and ready for the Hong Kong humidity, give the stylists at Sozo a ring.
Mention Sassy Bride and recieve 10% off any hair styling session at Sozo Hair Design! Sozo Hair Design is also one of our favourite wedding beauty pit-stops, see who else made the cut here.

The Strand, Central District’s mega spa in the heart of Cochrane Street, sprawls over four floors and caters to both ladies and men. (Boys, we want you looking your best too!) Their 90-minute bridal consultation and trial definitely caught our eyes: one of their incredible stylists helps collaborate with you on a look that takes into consideration your type of hair and even your veil, jewellery and dress to make sure nothing overshadows the rest. They’ve even taken into account the fact that some of you fab ladies may want to transition into a slightly different look for your reception; just mention what you want to your stylist and they’ll be more than willing to help you out. If you’re smitten by the end of your session, you can actually hire your stylist’s services for your wedding to make sure you look top your day long. We’ve heard a little rumour that our very own That Girl Lauren Mead and upcoming That Bride Charlotte Patton swear by their services (Keith’s particularly), so you’ll know where to find us the next time we need a spruce-up.
Regular styling consultations with a general stylist or creative director range from $250-$800, whereas a full bridal consultation costs $1500.

For more wedding advice on services in Hong Kong, check out our other roundups! We’ve also sat down for a bit of a goss with some real Hong Kong That Brides, so take a little look at what they said on our site too (we may have teared up a little, but don’t tell anybody!).
