Girls get your Gloves & Sassy Giveaway

15 June, 2010

In my household the fitness routines couldn’t be any more different. I am a loyal follower of yoga and as I grow older I seem to prefer more chill ways of working out. My husband on the other hand is addicted to his regular boxing sessions and can’t get enough of it. He has been engulfed into this world of hitting, punching and kicking (only in the gym I must add!) and it is definitely gotten him in great shape. I used to be known as the runner in our family and I am sad to announce that he is now faster then me (but he still can’t touch his toes so my yoga is keeping me in the lead on that!)

I have visited his gym (Impakt) a few times and can tell you that it is not only the men that are devoted to this type of workout – the girls seem to love sweating their frustrations and calories out of their system by hitting the punching bag a few times over. From what I can tell by the one time I braved an actual workout is that it seriously works your entire body.  You aren’t just punching a bag the whole time, the trainers have you running, doing crunches, push ups, jump rope etc… I am definitely not an expert when it comes to this whole boxing thing but if you are looking for a great way to get in shape and want something a bit more active then just running on a treadmill you should check out a boxing or kickboxing class.

Here are a few places around town that you may want to check out – some may be more girl friendly then others (I can vouch for Impakt) so it may be best to do a test run before signing on the dotted line!
