How have we made it to August already?! 2015 is just flying by. Our regularly scheduled programming continues with a roundup of events in August… mark your diaries and don’t miss out on great gigs, awesome parties and neat networking events. It’s summertime, after all!

BeatshipBeatship x DJ Revolution Present: Madeon
All aboard the Superstar Virgo, which sets sail from Harbour City for Beatship! Think a big party on a cruise ship, featuring some of the best house DJs from around the world… this month is the one and only Madeon. Grab your bikini, revel in the pool shenanigans and get ready to dance the night away in the middle of the South China Sea!

Restaurant WeekHong Kong Restaurant Week
Eat your way around Hong Kong at DiningCity Hong Kong’s Restaurant Week, which is now open for bookings! There are more than 80 restaurants participating in this 10-day affair, giving foodies exclusive opportunities to indulge! Each resto will offer a minimum three-course meal and fixed-price menus for lunch and dinner. Check out the full scoop here.

Now this is an interesting one if you’re looking for something a bit different. The concept is simple: 20 images in 20 seconds from anyone who’s got a story to share – seriously, anyone can take the floor as long as you pre-register here. Mix and mingle with others at this unique networking event.

The Breaking WindsThe Breaking Winds in Hong Kong
Combining their training as classical bassoonists with pop-culture sensibilities and a dash of comedy, The Breaking Winds will have you giggling away through the night! They’re like a cover band that plays hits with whoopee cushions and kazoos… sounds like a fun night out!

Kevin KwanKevin Kwan
I started reading Kevin Kwan’s first book Crazy Rich Asians in anticipation of this evening and boy, is it hilarious! The acclaimed Singaporean author will be reading from his latest book China Rich Girlfriend followed by an interview with the man himself and a Q&A session at KEE Club… sounds like it will be a laugh!

When: Friday, 7 August, reception starts at 6.30pm

If you’re in the mood for a party, head to W Hong Kong for Heineken’s Can You See Music. The sound experiment, led by a host of DJs from Russia, Holland, South Korea and beyond will surprise you at this party, which will literally blow your senses away!

Lan Kwai Fong Beer Fest 2015Lan Kwai Fong Beer and Music Fest
It’s that time of the year again – yep, our favourite place to eat, drink and be merry is hosting the annual Lan Kwai Fong Beer and Music Fest! Grab your cowgirl boots and a whole lot of stamina, because the theme this year is the wild, wild West. Expect the streets to be filled with over 60 wagon and saloon-themed stalls, dotted with cacti and of course packed with gallons of golden beer and delicious food!

When: Saturday, 8 August – Sunday, 9 August, 1pm till late

How much: Free admission! Bring cash so you can try out all the different food and beverages on offer.

OUTLOOK FestivalOutlook Festival
Let the bass cannon kick it… if you like bass in your face, check out the first instalment of Outlook Festival in Hong Kong. The line-up for this bass music festival features DJs such as Skeptical and more famous faces from around the world, and there will also be a number of artists doing live painting. See you there!

Waves by RewindWAVES by REWIND
Unwind and rewind at a secret location in Hong Kong… yep, the same folks who brought us the rooftop series Rewind are bringing the same concept to a beach near you! Have a drink as you sink into the warm sand (and possibly have a splash about in the water – up to you!) and mingle with others. See you there!

EllermannEllermann’s Summer Flower Workshops
Amelia Toohey, Floral Creative Director at The Flower Era, hosts a series of flower-arranging workshops at one of our fave boutiques, Ellermann. Learn how to make a hand-tied bouquet for a loved one, how to make an awesome centrepiece for your next dinner party or how to whip up a fabulous bridal bouquet. It’ll be bloomin’ lovely!

Get your zen on at Asian Yogi’s annual OMFEST event in the heart of Central. Start with a 5km run along Victoria Harbour and join in for a range of outdoor yoga classes with some of HK’s most renowned yogis. See you there!

Irish alt rock band Kodaline hits the stage in Hong Kong this month! Many of us at Sassy HQ can’t wait for this one. We heart their song All I Want so much. You’ll recognise it from Grey’s Anatomy (come on, that show always needs some moody folk-rock underpinning a particularly emotional scene…). This is a must see because of: all. the. feels.

Imagine DragonsImagine Dragons
Welcome to the new age, to the new age… with their catchy guitar riffs and power vocals, Las Vegas four-piece Imagine Dragons are hitting the stage in the ‘Kong in support of their Smoke + Mirrors Tour. It’s the first time the band will be performing in Asia, so this is definitely one not to miss!

Hollywood Rd MarketHollywood Rd Market
The Hollywood Rd Market from last month returns again at The Space! There will be even more food and retail vendors than before, so you can dine while you shop to your heart’s content. I’ve heard rumours of a cook off on Saturday evening… so make sure you stick around to check it out!

With six albums under their belt, DragonForce is, well, a force to be reckoned with in the metal scene. The Brit band has a career spanning 15 years, making them veterans in the music biz. Their energetic performance will definitely have you on your feet.
