1 / 7

TMK

Opening this July, TMK is the newest opening to come from Hong Kong restaurateurs, Pirata Group. The restaurant is set to be a lively temakeria, serving up a selection of quality, Japanese hand rolls. Signature fillings will include King Crab, Bluefin Toro (fatty tuna), and Hokkaido Sea Urchin, with the menu also including a range of fresh sashimi, along with other refreshing takes on traditional Japanese dishes. Taking a less than traditional route, the new Japanese venture will marry authentic cuisine with all things punk. Promising a rowdy soundtrack, a dive bar-styled interior, and an abundance of sake, Japanese highballs and craft beer, this new Sheung Wan spot is sure to be the go-to destination for late-night dining and drinking.

Honjo

Also coming this month from Pirata Group is Honjo, a modern Japanese restaurant, set to serve generous platters of high quality sushi, melt in your mouth sashimi, delightfully light and crispy tempura, and hearty hot dishes. Opening its door towards the end of July, the restaurant will seat a whopping 120 guests, with the expansive space featuring retro yet contemporary furnishings. With both themed private dining rooms and warm communal dining spaces, Honjo will be separated into four distinct areas; Tin Toys Lobby, Safari Room, Red Armoury and Blue Suite, each offering a unique experience compared to other nooks of the restaurant.

Cornerstone

With one Michelin star under his belt for Central’s Arcane, acclaimed chef Shane Osborn opens Cornerstone this month. Located on Hollywood Road, the new eatery promises a more casual approach to dining. Said to be a passion project of Chef Osborn’s, the menu will offer a range of simple dishes, all highlighting  both local and international high-quality produce. Favourites are sure to include the oxheart tomatoes with basil pesto, burrata and oakleaf, along with the Wagyu bavette with red onion, rocket, ciabatta and mustard mayonnaise – and we already have our eye on the dessert of chocolate brownie with hazelnut, vanilla chantilly and caramel – though the restaurant also promises a selection of vegan and vegetarian offerings. Along with a unique wine list of almost 5o bottles from lesser known regions, Cornerstone will serve filtered water, freshly brewed coffees and a selection of teas from the UK’s The Rare Tea Company. The all-day dining restaurant is open now Tuesday – Sunday, 11:30am to 11pm (closed on Mondays).

The Chicken Bar

If you’re a lover of fried chicken, get excited, as The Chicken Bar is opening this month in Central’s H Code. Already gaining a following from its recent pop-up at Wan Chai burger resto, Honbo, we’re sure it’s going to be packed come its official opening. We can’t wait to try the Okonomiyaki Chicken Sandwich (with Crystal hot sauce mayo, Osaka okonomiyaki sauce, crispy lettuce and pickled cucumbers), though we’ve also spied some incredible looking crispy Chicken Tenders over on its Instagram feed.
