Newly opened in Sai Ying Pun, GSpot by GSpotCookin is the newest private dining experience to hit Hong Kong, offering dining experiences, catering, cooking leagues and arena rentals.
Whether it’s a private dinner, birthday bash, a leaving do, or a company get together, our city offers countless options for a fun night out. But if you’re looking for something a little different to the standard dinner and drinks, why not book in for your own Prep-N-Eat experience or a private dinner party? Newly opened in Sai Ying Pun, GSpot by GSpotCookin offers a variety of menus, ranging from rustic Italian, to conventional Korean, and even a unique Korean/Italian Collab – sure to be the perfect choice for your next occasion.
Taking the space which previously homed Umami Concepts, GSpot is the newest private dining experience to hit Hong Kong. Helmed by New Yorker and Culinarian G. Ferretti, the loft-inspired interior (complete with 12-foot high ceiling, two lounge areas, a balcony and an open kitchen) offers dining experiences, catering, cooking leagues and arena rentals. Raised in New York, with Korean roots, an Italian father, and a Polish mother, G has certainly brought a taste of his own unique culture to Sai Ying Pun. Not only is the space itself totally transformed into an NYC-style open plan kitchen, living and dining area, the food on offer is like no other. Playing homage to his roots, G’s menus feature a wide range of rustic Italian dishes and Korean favourites, giving guests the chance to get stuck in and try their hand at making everything from fresh pasta to KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) ‘n’ waffles. Guests can also opt to try out the Korean/Italian collab Prep-N-Eat menu, which draws on G’s Korean and Italian influences, and includes unmissable collaboration dishes such as Kimchi Pizza Fritta (with gochujang sauce, mozzarella, kimchi and red onion) and Kimchi Bokkeum Bap Arancini (kimchi fried rice balls).
Team Sassy tried out the Prep-N-Eat Rustic Italian private dining experience for ourselves and, besides loving making our own pasta (not to mention eating it!), G himself brought his own style and charm to make the evening unique. Some of the team were definitely more pro-eaters than pro-chefs, but G was always on hand to help us every step of the way, creating a fun, relaxed and welcoming environment. Aside from getting messy and handcrafting our own pasta, we enjoyed plenty of authentic family-style Italian fare throughout the evening. So, whether you’re a dab hand in the kitchen or not, you don’t have to be intimidated by donning an apron yourself! From the impressive (and irresistible) anti-pasti selection of stuffed mushrooms, fried bread and a homemade assortment of Italian pickled veg, to the primo Eggplant Parmigiana Rustico, carne Meatballs with Romesco Sauce (or chickpea balls for the veggies!), and our own homemade Fettuccine with Marinara Sauce, we were well-fed and looked after from start to finish. And the best bit? After the hard work of cooking, you get to sit back, relax and enjoy the fruits of your labour – glass of wine in hand, and safe in the knowledge that you don’t have to worry about doing the washing up.
And if you’re not booking into one of GSpot’s Private Dining Experiences, the space can also be rented out for your own events. Including everything you need to host your own party at your home away from home, the private space caters to any theme. To make the most of the full kitchen, dining area and lounge areas, guests are invited to bring their own music, decorations and favourite drinks (with no corkage fee!). For our own event, we came armed with bunting, flowers and our own playlist (not to mention plenty of wine!), so your experience is guaranteed to be unique and personal to you.
Sassy Perk: First time customers can receive two complimentary bottles of wine when booking a private event at GSpot, simply by using the discount code: GSPOT2019.
