Get perfect brows at Shu Uemura’s Tokyo Brow Station in Pacific Place

25 October, 2012

I recently took a bit of a break from my usual spate of eating to go investigate the world of beauty – specifically the brow-shaping services at the Tokyo Brow Station in the Shu Uemura at Pacific Place. I was quite apprehensive, as I’d never treated myself to one of these professional brow-shaping services before, and frankly, I didn’t have a clue what was going to happen to my eyebrows. What could they do with so little hair, and what improvements could there be to my own tweezing?!

The Shu Uemura store at PP is, so far, the only one in HK with a Tokyo Brow Station; the store is brightly illuminated with a swish looking make-up and brow service counter off to the side for hapless females like myself to perch at. I was introduced to the lovely and very efficient Noel, who explained that she was first going to analyse my facial contour and bone structure, then take me through the process of brow style design, shape, strength and colour.

With the use of an iPad, she swiftly talked about how we decide upon what brow shape suits which face shape. After a bit of umming and ahhing, we agreed that I have an oval-shaped face and after using a colour palette to check she had the correct hair colour, she got to work on how to beautify my brows.

It turned out that my eyebrows were a little bit lopsided. This was most definitely due to my over-eager plucking as a teen and despite my best efforts, my DIY attempts to fill in the defect were quickly spotted by Noel! With the use of a brow set-square to ensure my brows were pefectly aligned with my eyes, a nifty looking pair of scissors, a quick tweezing, a brush and a deft colouring in with Shu’s tapered brow pencil, my brows were suddenly and miraculously balanced and looking quite swish. I have to admit, I was most impressed and I could see the difference that well-styled brows makes to one’s face. There was more definition and I felt a lot less scruffy!

The whole consult took no more than 20 minutes and I was completely sold. Noel recommended that I return once a month for brow grooming and I walked out of Shu Uemura with sleek brows, a new eyebrow pencil and a mental note to book myself in for some future sessions. No more DIY plucking for me!

The Brow Style Atelier service costs $150 for one session (or $250 fully redeemable on Shu Uemura products) and $750 for a package of six sessions.
