Bag of Desire: The Studded Kelly

Hermes bags fall into a category all of their own – absolutely timeless, which of course they have to be to justify their humungous price tag. You could own a Kelly or a Birkin and it could stay as part of your wardrobe for literally the rest of your life (and then be handed down to your daughter too). The only other bag style I think truly compares in terms of style permanence is the Chanel 2.55. Most of us mere mortals can only dream of owning a Birkin, especially given the ridiculous waiting lists. I have to say though, my preference would always be for a Kelly, as the Birkin just weighs such an absolute ton that I don’t know how anyone could bear to actually fill it with stuff and tote it around all day.

The classic style of the Kelly bag makes it even more surprising that Hermes would take such a risk to cover it in glittering studs for Autumn/Winter 2010! Adding even more weight to an already weighty bag, this Kelly is for the rock chicks out there who know they’ll still want to be sparkling when they’re in their 50s. I can totally imagine Katie Perry or Rihanna with this fabulous bag!
