Attic Lifestyle

29 November, 2010

Attic Lifestyle is a brand-new lifestyle store in Aberdeen which founder Simone Daly created in reaction to “the glitz and glamour” of Hong Kong decor stores. Full of quirky handcrafted pieces sourced from Denmark and South Africa (Simone is herself South African), this is the place to come if you are looking for a special handcrafted gift or an eclectic objet d’art for your home. We’re loving the light, bright showroom space and the fun colourful items that Attic Lifestyle carries. Hanging from the ceiling are crochet lightshades from Moonbasket, a Cape Town-based community empowerment project, and on the display shelves are hand-painted pottery bowls and plates from South African ceramicist Gemma Orkin. From Denmark there are goodies from Rice, a fair-trade company.

It’s refreshing to see such a different aesthetic come onto the Hong Kong market, and founder Simone wants Attic Lifestyle to be accessible and affordable: “Everything in-store is about the joy of living and shared experiences, like the perfect tea set and ceramic bunny cake stand for girly tea parties or a funky pink ice bucket for long champagne lunches with friends”.
Attic Lifestyle is open on Saturdays from 10am-1pm or during the week by appointment (email [email protected]). You can stay up to date with what’s new in store by following Attic Lifestyle’s Facebook Page.
