We told you a bit about WISE (Women’s International Shared Experience) earlier in the year when we promoted the various fundraising events that they had around town to support this forward thinking project. WISE was founded one year ago by Danielle Spencer when she wanted a way to use her video abilities for good. She came up with the idea to show women in developing countries (many who have never used a computer before) how easy it is to use the internet and video and how it can provide them with a way to have their own voice on the internet and within the community. Through this empowering way of teaching she hopes she will give the women confidence to continue expressing themselves (through the internet and in their homes) and teach this very same lesson to their friends and family.
A year has passed and Danielle is now in the midst of what she has planned so long for. She has travelled to various countries already and the WISE project is very much alive and is surely bringing smiles to all those who are part of this program. I was simply touched watching a few of the videos from her first stop in Pakistan and I hope you enjoy watching what the ladies in Pakistan put together as they did everything themselves from start to finish! Please do spread the word about WISE as I am sure they are always in need of financial/technical support. Danielle is also blogging about her experience and you can read all about it here.
