Most of you will agree that a quality wine and cheese selection is pretty much essential for any sort of social get-together. Throw an assortment of other lavish nibbles and some great music in an uber-sleek setting into the mix, and you’ve got a quality night out on your hands!
Cue Winederlust Wednesdays at the W Hong Kong’s WOOBAR. If you haven’t had a chance to check this weekly fixture out for yourself yet, you’re missing out. Perfect for a midweek gathering with friends, date night with your other half or something fun (and impressive) to do with out-of-town guests, Winederlust is a gourmet food lover’s dream – a 2.5 hour window to indulge in an unlimited amount of top notch imported wine and cheese!
Having been a few times towards the start of last year, fellow Sassy writer Jojo and I decided to set aside a Wednesday last month night to get an overdue Winederlust fix (before she left our shores to move back to the UK *sob*). Unsurprisingly, WOOBAR was buzzing and the wine was flowing! It was awesome to see the layout had been slightly reconfigured since I had last been, giving people easier access to the two wine islands and array of cheeses, charcuterie selection, freshly baked breads and scrummy preserves.
While we were there, not only did we take full advantage of the mouthwatering spread (warning: the fondue is highly addictive), we also saw a marriage proposal unfold right before our eyes (directly in front of the fondue table, actually) – completely unexpected but I guess wine and cheese does have the ability to set the tone for romance…
No doubt I’ll be making more appearances at Winederlust over the coming months; it’s fab value for money and the perfect place to let off a bit of mid-week steam. Enjoy!
