It’s mid-March and that means it’s time for the Rugby Sevens! It marks the start of spring on the HK social calendar (where has the time gone?!) and is generally an epic weekend all round. This year, it takes place on Friday, 27 March – Sunday, 29 March, 2015. Whether you’ve b(l)agged tickets to the Sevens or not, you’ll want to try your luck by entering our giveaway to win yourself some passes for the weekend… you heard that right! We’re giving away Rugby Sevens tickets to two lucky readers, courtesy of HSBC, so enter now for the chance to win. We’ve also rounded up the best Sevens events, parties and promotions around town for you to join in the fun if you didn’t manage to get tickets.

RUGBY SEVENS TICKET GIVEAWAY

Every year Louis Roederer raises the bar with its annual Sevens after-party. Just metres from the Hong Kong Stadium you can enjoy live music, a host of the city’s best DJs and don’t spend all your money on Pimms as you’ll want to try a glass of Louis Roederer, of course! Take a stroll in the outdoor garden or perch at the Champagne bar that overlooks the Sevens Village and Big Screen… a pretty stylish way to celebrate, we’d say!

PRE-SEVENS

Rugby on the Road
Head over to Tsim Sha Tsui for the chance to win Rugby Sevens tickets! There will be an unveiling of the official KMB Rugby Bus, as well as opportunities to meet with rugby player and get their autographs (or even a sneaky selfie, if you’re lucky!). Hong Kong’s official mascot, Wei Bei will also be making an appearance. But the best part is if you wear your rugby kit, you’ll be given the chance to win a pair of tickets to the Sevens! That sounds easy enough! Get involved in some of the board games as well, and if you’re one of the top scorers, you’ll also win tickets. Yep, we’re all about sharing the good news!

The sophisticated Soho will be turning into a Fanzone in the run up to the Sevens. Head to Yorkshire Pudding as they will be giving away free three-day tickets to a couple of lucky people! Simply buy a pint of Carlsberg to be in with the chance of winning this lucky draw. If you’re not lucky, you can head back for breakfast and catch the games live on the big screens.

Boujis Faboujis EggBoujis
To get you in the spirit of the Sevens, head over to Boujis in the week leading up to the infamous weekend. They are offering up a Sevens-inspired cocktail called the ‘Faboujis Egg’ in different delicious flavours. Get the party started!

Lan Kwai Fong Sevens Carnival
Where else is there to go but the perilous alleys (for anyone in heels!) of LKF for pre (and post)-Sevens celebrations? This year’s hotspot will be rolling out the festivities with exciting offers and games in all bars that flank the street. Organised by the Lan Kwai Fong Association and Hong Kong Rugby Football Union, this kicks off the most celebrated event in HK’s social scene as well as Rugby Week. There’ll be live music from Red Hot Chili Pipers, a popular bagpipe band too… woohoo! You might even win those coveted tickets…

When: Tuesday, 24 March, 8pm onwards

RUGBY SEVENS WEEKEND

HSBC Sevens Village
Don’t fret if you can’t score tickets to the actual event in the stadium. The fun goes on at the HSBC Sevens Village, which is right across from Hong Kong Stadium. It’s free entry, and there will be live action entertainment on the giant screen and interactive games.

The Butcher’s Club will be selling scrumptious breakfast rolls and cups of tea to keep you going outside the entrance to the Sevens Village. Look out for them inside the HSBC Sevens Village area too, which they’ll be catering. Think dry-aged steak sandwiches, boerewors rolls with chakalaka, dry-aged steak and ale pies, vegetarian pies and of course crisp sandwiches, as well as candy floss, popcorn and traditional British sweets. We can’t think of better food to fuel your Sevens weekend!

Frites Quarry BayFrites
Head to Frites in Wan Chai or Quarry Bay, show them your ticket stub from the weekend and you’ll get a complimentary Stella Artois… that’s if you’re still standing after the hectic weekend! They’ll be showing the games from the Sevens live on their big screens too.

HK Sevens Official Fans Party At The Wheel
If you’ve not scored tickets to the Sevens at the stadium, head over to the Observation Wheel by the Central Ferry Pier for an outdoor party. The rugby will be playing on a giant screen, a DJ will be spinning tunes and the Village People will be making a special appearance. Party on into the night and stay for the official after-party to keep the Sevens vibe alive and kicking!

When: Friday, 27 March from 5.30-11pm, Saturday, 28 March – Sunday 29 March from 8.30am-7pm; the after-party on Saturday and Sunday is from 7-11pm.
