Whisked away by Whisky@Stables at Hullett House

If you’re still looking for the most elegant and cosy bar in Hong Kong, then it’s time to check out Whisky@Stables at Hullett House pronto. With cosy British leather sofas, wooden American whisky barrels and soft-lit lighting, this renovated former stables is the place to see and be seen every night of the week. As the name suggests, this bar specialises in every kind of whisky under the sun and they also do fantastic courses and classes too, perfect if you want to do something fun and different with your friends.

It’s my new favourite place to go with my girlfriends, fiancé and family. There are lots of cosy little nooks and crannies to get lost in and curl up for a good chat, and the staff are very friendly too. Kingson, the Director of Food and Beverage, is definitely the host with the most and his warm hospitality makes you want to stay for hours on end. They’re currently running an event just for women called Ladies Who Whisky until mid-June and trust me, it’s fantastic!

Whisky@Stables is the only Whisky Ambassador certified venue in Asia and Kingson and his team travel far and wide to bring the most unique whiskies to their customers. The bar offers over 100 different types of whiskies from Scotland, Sweden, India, Taiwan, Japan and many more countries. There’s also a selection from small batch independent bottlers and a few cocktails and beers too for the uninitiated whisky drinkers who visit. Everything is served in gorgeous glassware and the presentation is stunning!

There’s a fab selection of bar bites and luxurious Spanish meat on offer if you fancy having a bite with your drinks. The Iberico Ham ($188) is pricey but worth it and the Chocolate Dipped Bacon ($78) is to die for. If you fancy some sweet treats then I would highly recommend the S’mores ($78) and Caramelised Hazelnuts ($58) to finish off your evening. Whisky@Stables offers a few more specials too, such as Truffle French Fries ($78) and Escargot ($98), which are also delicious.

I think Hong Kong is short of cosy, comfortable and luxurious bars like this one and I’m delighted there’s now one firmly on the map. The drinks, food and ambiance create a perfect backdrop for a great night out. It’s been a hit with everyone I’ve brought and I love that they are doing special events just for girls. Because it’s not just men who love whisky, ladies like it too!
