With Thanksgiving in our rearview, we can finally welcome our favourite month of the year! The Christmas countdown has officially begun and there are loads of events happening to fill up your calendar in between holiday shopping and festive soirees. Get into the Christmas spirit with visits to one of many markets, give back and help those less fortunate at The Great Big Clothing Drive or join hundreds of silly Santas for Santacon 2016. Most of all, have the happiest Christmas ever, ladies!

Tis the season, girls! December is finally here and what better way to get into the festive spirit than by browsing local markets chockablock full of hand-crafted goodies, gifts and treats! Find one-of-a-kind prezzies, sample local foods and shop ’til you drop this season.

The Fayre of St John’s

Join Quintessentially Lifestyle at their the third edition of “The Fayre of St. John’s”, a special charity event in aid of Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre. Taking place at the magnificent St. John’s Cathedral, the evening will bring together another delightful series of carols and hymns to Hong Kong’s movers and shakers, as well as unique performances to kick start the festive season.

When: Thursday, 1 December, 6pm

Love to bake or just love to eat?! The Hong Kong International Bakery Expo is back and is calling all bakery business and cake queens! Exhibiting bakeries will be bursting with pastries, cakes, cupcakes, confectionery, coffee and all cookware. Aside from live demos and cooking competitions, it’s a great networking opportunity for all bakers and business owners alike to share new ideas and learn old tricks of the trade.

Hong Kong Story by local illustrator, Don Mak, is making its debut this month! The exhibit tells the story of our epic city through a series of six illustrations which use watercolour and digital effects. Each piece of art captures an era since the ‘60s, with images of street corners and crossroads proudly depicting HK’s rich history. Grab the girls and get a sneak peek of this brand new art exhibition that’s sure to get everyone talking!

Aside from an all-you-can-eat holiday feast, The Butcher’s Club Christmas Southside Market & Long Lunch will be revving up for an afternoon of live music, holiday raffles, face painting and games. Choose from a selection of food and bev vendors and browse hand-crafted gifts! In addition, Little Picasso Studio will be hosting a series of arts and crafts workshops throughout the day (on the 16th floor) so grab the girls and get ready for one festive affair!

Join Artists Abroad as they celebrate their newest exhibition, ‘Kaleidoscopes’. Together with guest artist, Martin Lever, each artist will be interpreting the theme using their individual styles and a variety of mediums. From Chinese scenes to abstract landscapes, the exhibition will fill the Rotunda with imaginative and vibrant pieces!

Last year there were hundreds of elves, santas and Christmas trees running loose around the city raising over $10,000 for charity and this year, 12 Pubs of Christmas is raising funds for Room to Read. From Hong Kong to Kowloon, join them in a charitable pub crawl and enjoy a festive tipple or two.

Clear out your wardrobes and give back this Christmas! Donate your clothing throughout the month in preparation of The Great Big Clothing Drive. Volunteers will gather to sort the clothing collected and help distribute your items amongst homeless camps throughout the city. Lend a helping hand this holiday season, you’ll be glad you did.
