Secret Island Party

Shh… it’s a secret

With 13K ‘attending’ on Facebook, is SIP really a ‘secret’ anymore? Not quite, although we still don’t know exactly which island the festivities will be going down on. We love this year’s theme, Folklore, Fables and Fairytales, as there are so many costume ideas to choose from – see our favourites here. If you fancy getting away from it all, this is certainly the place to be for a weekend of art, music and whimsical performances.

Quickly on what to bring…

  • Cash! You’ll need it to buy food from this year’s tasty vendors, plus you can’t bring food or drink into the actual festival site.
  • Camping necessities… a tent, ground cloth, torches, wet wipes, sheets (it’s cooled down a bit, but it’s still way too hot for a sleeping bag), water bottles. A limited number of tents can be bought from SIP directly, but you can also find cheap tents around Hong Kong at discount camping stores. Camp gear is life gear. It’s never a bad investment!
  • Extra comfy clothes. You won’t want to be in your costume(s) all weekend. Bring some comfortable clothes to just hang out in, a bathing suit (or two) and a cover up.
  • Good vibes and great friends.

When: Friday, 16 October, 7pm –  Sunday, 18 October
Where: That’s the secret! If you haven’t bought advance ferry tickets, ferries will be leaving from Pier 9 on Friday at 7pm, and Saturday at 10am, 1pm and 4pm for $100.
How much: Some tickets are still available! Prices vary. Check it out.

Upper Modern Bistro

Sweet Dreams are Made of Cheese

Cheese! Who doesn’t love it? All weekend Upper Modern Bistro is celebrating its’ second anniversary with the Upper Cheese Fest. There will be cheese workshops, cheese dinners, cheese brunches, a cheese market and a cheese party. You gouda brie kidding me!

When: All weekend long!
Where: Upper Modern Bistro, 6-14 Upper Station Street, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong
How much: Event prices range from $250 to $1,088. See details here.
